Gypsy Rose is in a big glass display box on the D.C. mall, between the Air and Space Museum, and the National Gallery of Art from April 12 to 19. The McGee roadster will be there April 20-26, and the Hirohata Merc, from April 27- May4. Unfortunately, with the glass you can't get the best pictures.
Cool ride - a some point an example of a Hot Rod, Custom, etc will have to be put in a protective case to preserve for future generations in a robotic world to take a look into the past
Just who are the people that picked these cars? No Model T Ford and they never heard of "Old 16" the Locomobile that won the Vanderbilt Cup race in 1908? How come TWO of the cars made in GERMANY made the US engineering list?
I believe that at some point one of those 'German' Companies relocated to Italy; like maybe: MASERATTI?
Did anyone ever hear about #13, the Anderson? Fifty six years in the hobby and I had to look that one up. Bob
Hope that glass box is vented. D.C. heat and humidity can wreck havoc on a car interior and paintwork. Guess a velvet rope wouldn't have kept the admiring crowds from fondling the cars or the locals from stealing it.
Thanks for the Info. I was planning a D.C. trip to the mall with the grand kids. Now I need to decide which car I want to see the most. lol And I was thinking the same thing Don. I hope They were smart enough to ventilate that box! But the government usually has more money than smarts.{I just decided, it'll be the McGee roadster} I'll try and post a picture back here. Ron...
Well they could have let the HAMB pick them but after 3 months of bickering, whining and insults we would have selected 18 traditional, black, 32 ford roadsters, 9 shiny, 9 flat ...and what is this "mustang" you speak of?
Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out the McGee roadster. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
