Hopefully these are not reposts. I have read this magnificent thread from page 1, starting about three years ago, but I can't remember which photos are dupes or not (hell, I can't remember what I saw three days ago) so please forgive me if these are reposts. But I think these are all inside the timeframe window and all do feature a vehicle in the photo.
Saturday night on the Sunset Strip, and the usual line half way around the block. Everyone who was anybody played at the Whiskey...


A fair double bill for your $2 cover charge. From May through August of 1966, the Doors were the House Band at the Whiskey a Go Go. Their last set was on August 21, and the last song Morrison sang there was "The End", after which the band was fired...


Speaking of Hollywood, I assume that everyone knows that the Hollywood Sign is a leftover part of a sign advertising lots for sale in the Hollywood Hills...


More Hollywood, the Cinerama Dome movie theater, on Sunset Blvd. near Vine St. The flick came out in 1966 which dates the photo...


Tiny Naylor's Drive In, corner of Sunset and La Brea Ave. This was one of the first Drive In restaurants I ever went to (I was born about a mile and a half away). Tiny (who weighed over 300 lbs.) owned several other restaurants around the L.A. area...


Hollywood Blvd looking east from the intersection at La Brea. The street car tracks curve south and then continue west on Santa Monica Blvd, through Beverly Hills and all the way down to the Santa Monica Pier...

 

Let's hear it for the CHP. An early Buick Straight-8, and a policeman not needing to wear a flack-jacket under his shirt. Different times, different cars.


While the CHP does have female officers now, their dress code has changed to the more normal uniforms...


The Buick Century. I can almost hear Broderick Crawford snarling into the mic. A few of these '55 Buicks were fitted with McCulloch superchargers...


'57 Olds...


The question is, were the tracks there before they built the town or was the town there before they decided to run the train down Main Street? And, did the train have to come to a complete stop at the stop signs, or could they do a slow-roll like the rest of us do?

 

I'm going to hazard a guess that its a 70-71 Mopar E body or 71 B body, most likely a '70-71 Cuda judging by the angle of the rear quarter window that's seen very briefly. The corner of the dash, a-pillar and windshield shape, door panel...all seem like Mopar (those features were shared on 70-up E and '71-up B body).

'71 Mustang would be a second guess, but the A-pillar and mirror position don't seem right.

Morrison was photographed with a '68 Dodge charger several times but, but judging by the lack of a front vent window, that's definitely not a Charger.

The airport at South Lake Tahoe. This was at one time a commercial airport but has since been changed to charter flights or private plane use. Landing was a little tricky with the jets, having to fly between ridges on the down-wind leg before touching down...


While we are still at Lake Tahoe, Harvey's Wagon Wheel Hotel and Casino in South Lake Tahoe (or as the locals say, the South End). There is a little snow in the hills in the background, but this winter has been one of the snowiest in recoded history in the Sierras. In fact, it snowed yesterday.

An amazing photo. As it turned out, it was the last photo the photographer ever took, as he was run over and killed by the driver of the car, who was looking at the train instead of where he was going.

Hey, just kidding. I was just testing to see if anyone actually reads the captions...


Highway 99 and the Bakersfield sign. The sign is still around but it's been moved to some other street. All the motels in town used to be on either side of the highway when I first started going up to the March Meet..


The Flatiron Building, 175 Fifth Ave., NYC. Not far from the Astor Hotel and like the Astor Theater on the right, it was owned by wealthy businessman John Jacob Astor. Mr. Astor was unfortunate enough to drown when the Titanic went down on April 15, 1912, exactly 105 years and 2 days ago. At the time of his death, he was worth $87 Million (or $2.2 Billion in todays dollars)...

Went to Sears yesterday, some good clothes DIRT CHEAP! Sears and Monkey Wards were staples foe many years, Hate to see them go.
