Well, a week @ a day after arrivin HOME on the "Ranch" from the local pound, Sadie has had her first shower-bath -- she resisted the idea at first, but settled down w the warm water cascadin over her as I lathered her up & rinsed her off -- stepped out of the shower and enveloped her in a big towel to git the majority of water offa her, after which she bounded into the family room where the "witch" [IMG];) toweled her off some more -- then I threw the wet towels in the dryer to dry & warm em to wrap er UP in em after dinner -- didn't give me half as much struggle as I'd expected -- kennel smell ALL gone now [IMG]:)

helped save a Corgi type dog on the Coronado bridge approach from the I-5 NB & SB t-day -- me, several other motorists, & a CHP officer -- some seriously dicy moments afore I got the WB traffic shut down completely to cover the officer & peds in traffic as they attempted to capture the littl dog -- right QUICK it was in dodgin despite his short legs WHEW!

coupla FTs & a OOG to round out the day's "playin"

This is Billy-Boy, my now sadly departed Border Collie. It was always a battle to move him over from the driver's seat; I think he reasoned that after many miles alongside me, he'd got this driving business worked out.

Now I have Buster here as my workshop assistant and co-pilot, he's a Schnauzer crossbreed. He came to me from the same rescue home as Billy-Boy did all those years ago.

  20. I stayed away from this post because I had the misfortune to lose three in less than a year. All of them were good faithful companions. No new pets on the horizon yet but my son has a dog I get to enjoy now and then.

Moose, Dingo and Blackie. Lost Moose to cancer, Dingo to liver failure and Blackie to just plain old age, he was 19.
All three were great, Moose was my wife's Dog and Dingo was mine. Blackie just plain didn't listen to any one. Probably why he lived so long.

Wraymen, Sorry for your losses, three in a year is rough...Took two years for three of mine and was still rough; last was a cat that just disappeared when he was 13..Dog now is 14+ and rear legs are getting weak, can't do stairs so getting him into a vehicle involves steps boxes, ramps or stairs depending which vehile..He can manage a jump onto the couch or bed..He had a cancerous tumor removed from his sac glands last fall and so he will eventually seccom to cancer some wheres, Vet says usually in the stomach but it is a slow grow so could be years..We'll go as far as we can, its what we gotta do..

  27. I miss them a bunch. I still catch my self looking for them when I come home from work and it's been quite a while now since the last one passed. Sorry to hear of your losses. Unfortunately pets are only around for a short time but they leave a life time of memories.

    Onea them "memories" :)

several years back, on her last "out" of the evenin, I wondered what was takin her SO long -- went out the front door to see - and there, was my Shela, standin frozen, lookin at a skunk, bout 8 to 10 feet in front of her -- stand off -- till, I stepped out -- the skunk moved towards *me* and Shela CHARGED! skunk whirled around and FIRED -- straight into Shela's face -- I grabbed a hardbound Louis La'mour book off the front porch table and [ lucky shot ] BEANED the skunk w it - last I saw it was upside down and kickkin - I grabbed up Shela, who couldn't see, from the direct hit to the face, and ran thru the house [ BIG mistake ] w her to the back yard -- where I hosed her for about 15 min till the smell was off her and she could see agin -- went out front to check on the skunk, it had recovered, apparently, and left, likely w a headache [IMG];) now about runnin thru the house w her -- it took days before the smell went away [IMG]:p
