Hmm. Maybe I have seen the Beno car online and confused it with Dick's.

Suppose this is Dick's in the Henry Ford Museum with the smooth sides and Hemi poking out and Ben's below with louvers? Ben's looks to have a glass top though.

For sure Dick's in the Ford museum, could be Ben's, I don't remember him with a glass top, have to ask Dick when I see him.

 

Matt a few pictures from the 60's and 70s, Jeff Smith picnic's at Fountain Hills, Super Skate ( Roger Sharp) and Killer ( Bill Yokam) un-run. Un-Run flyer on the Bobby McGees menu board was created by Larry Virtue, both pieces.
Car show was at the exhibit hall at the State Fair Grounds, I believe that Gene Winfield put it on.

landseaandair, Nice pics. I remember racing my 1967 chevyII out there. I drove from Mesa to Jomax road every weekend. Cool trophy pic. Did they let you have the trophy. There was somebody out there last I I looked around and they gave me a picture of Ward Edwards Pro Mod Camaro. I will take that picture to the Tucson drag race reunion in May. The car was cool. I hope to see you there.

 

Mike, Yes, very sad. That track was fast and fun to drive on. My quickest E.T. was out there.

 

Trophy still on the ground. Nobody out there but quail and lizards now. Planning on going to Tucson, put in for Saturday off work.

 

Currently state trust land but would be nice if someday a car guy could at least get the chance to buy part of the property and preserve the tower and some of the strip instead of a developer leveling the whole site. Track surface is concrete and tower could be stripped back to bare bones and made to look like it's much smaller original design as long as the block walls and foundation survive.

I can dream can't I.

From 1993 through 2010 PRP/Speedworld was my home track.

 

I know the speedworld announcer, Ol Hal, and he has the Christmas tree in set up in his drivway.

 

Rumor was that the "tree" was stolen. So glad to here it is good hands.
