The car is getting close to final body work and paint. I'm getting a little more heat at the front of my hood than I'd like. The top tank is a bit close to the under side of the hood. I had planed to paint the under hood body color but may have to go another route.
Does anyone know of a product that will fit the bill and can be done to complement the under hood?
    Thanks!

Most products today are pretty unattractive, silver or black foil with their names emblazoned all over them. On this 61 Olds I'm building, I wanted looks, more than function, though this stuff IS heat and noise reducing. Black vinyl looking exterior. Looks good up against the Candy Gold! newpics_rich_1.jpg

I read somewhere that people a long time ago used to stamp louvers in their hoods to reduce heat.

But it'll block the louvers, yes? No?

  8. Go to your local pick-a-part and look at big cars with large hoods like Ford Crown Vics, big Cadillacs, Buick Roadmasters, and full-size pickups. You can easily find a piece of insulation on the underside of a hood that is easily removed and can be cut to fit whatever you have.

I was thinking of using the heat shielding type of Lizard Skin on the wife's '57 wagon. She rolled into the garage from the rain tonight and there was a clear demarcation on the hood where the heat dried the rain off. I'm not a fan of factory type insulation because mice get in it.
