Bruce, car is looking real good, too bad about the spindles especially after all that waiting.

  2. Now i have to lower the rear. 900-15 on rear and the car still looks to tall

  3. This is just the way this shit works . . . yah change one thing, three more things need to change and the cubic amounts of money and time keep multiplying - Fxxxing HotRods! LOL

  4. Looks fantastic - exactly the way my 32 Cab will look when I install the new front end -- also from Okie Joe. I'm sure I'll be screwing with the front steering arms as well.

Note: Due to the different spindle to frame locations and the geometry/lengths of things (between the drag link and the top steering arm), you may find that your stock drag link will need to be 'adjusted' to a different length. I haven't seen this myself, but I've heard that guys sometimes have to rework them in order to get things "centered" as far as steering goes. The only reason I'm bringing this up is that I'd try to mock-up, conceptualize and work this stuff all out - before you heat/bend your steering arms - as there could be a slight 'influence' in exactly how you do it. Hope I'm making sense! LOL

How does one tell a '32 fan from a later one? I might have one, I can check.

They have a long snout on them. I think it about 3-3/4 long.

  7. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Got tach drive? Yep
I didn't want to have to cut the spring mount but you have to take it off to make the tach drive fit. So out driving if something happens you have to pull the spring perch to work on it soooo
    Off with it's head!!!!!!!!
    Hypersonicccccccccccccc

  8. image.jpg I also NEED front 32 shock arms. I only have 34 and as you can see they are alittle off. Please help!!!!!

  10. Oh yea and now my drag link fits. I guess a bent axel messes with everything huh?

  15. I'm combing my radiator right now.

  17. Looking really good! From looking at the last picture, I would not lower the rear end as of yet . . .you probably want a little bit of rake. So - just think about that before you put a reverse eye spring in it. You're about ready to take it out on the road - can't wait!

  18. image.jpg She's already got a reverse eye rear spring dale. That's how it came when I got that rolling chassis. I still think maybe pull out another 2 leafs or so but ya I agree with you. I'm just going to leave it for now. I'm just finishing up what ever I need to do to take a ride. All the cool make it look right stuff can wait. I just want to take a ride with grandpa.

  19. Looks like about a 40' rear - how many leaves are in it now? What spring are you running in the rear and did it have to be 'ground/clearanced' to fit the rear cross-member?

  20. image.jpg Dale it's an original 32 spring "with the curve in it" it has 9 leafs and I had to make a spacer for the u bolts to fit.

  21. Usually by the price tag! LOL

  22. DAM! Bruce this is looking good.....I like the way it sets. Now go drive it like ya stole it.....Sure wish I was closer as I would be there for a ride along....

  23. Don't worry Dennis you can have the first ride at the LA roadster show this year. Hint hint ;)

  24. To be fair, when he bent them, he probably did so without using a stock spring perch. If you didn't have the wings on yours, your arm would clear.
If it's any consolation, Joe bent my arms, and they needed further tweaking as well. :)

  25. It's all part of building a hotrod. The axel looks killer and that's what counts. If hotrodding was easy everyone would do it right?

  27. Hey Bruce - hate to tell yah, it is not that simple! The 33/34 shocks (which it appears you have) - are not the same as 32 shocks and you can't just swap the arms. I'm also not aware of being able to rebuild the 33/34 models. Lastly, 32 shocks are a one year deal and they are very hard to find, expensive and costly to rebuild . . . ask me how I know! LOL. Lots of guys will use later Houdailles and modify the arms (cut/weld) to fit them to the 32 chassis. This would be by FAR the cheapest route. Ping me off-line if you need more info.

  28. Exactly! To build these cars like they used too, one doesn't just buy out of a catalog . . . one makes shit work. I still have my Oxy/Acet setup around - I use it for all sorts of 'Blacksmithing' type situations. My next one is heating/bending some DOM tubing to make a set of hairpins for my 34 - just like they did in the ole' days. LOL
