This photo at a gas station shortly before the crash. Dean's Ford wagon pulling the empty flatbed trailer was following behind the Spyder, and was driven by Bill Hickman, a movie stunt driver and a friend of Dean. Although most people did not know who Bill Hickman was, everyone who saw the Steve McQueen movie "Bullitt" will recognize Bill.
Bill was a stunt driver in many great car chase movies, including "Bullitt" and "The French Connection", and drove the black Dodge Charger in "Bullitt"...
