Hi there guys, I'm her to ask suggestions about how mutch time (in work hours) you guys expect to spend in a project to convert a four doors '38 zephyr to a custom coupe...having in mind a project to SEMA SHOW...sure I'm not asking a bullseye time, just a idea about that....full construction, ch***i, engine adaptation, bodywork, upholstery, paint, wiring....anything....the picture I send is the real car and the last one the level I want to the finished car, hope you guys can help me with this...tkya. I wouldn't even venture to guess actual hours. I just hope you have a big team of highly skilled and motivated crew to be all in every day. Tall order for that conversion especially in just 6months. I can guarantee I will check it out in person if it makes the deadline for entry!!! That rendering is killer so I say go for it. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
There's a similar build on the HAMB somewhere in Europe where a guy did a '38 into a roadster and did really great metalwork on it, he'd be the guy to contact. My guess to go from that 4 door sedan to the car in your rendering, just for metalwork, bodywork and paint (no upholstery, engine/drivetrain) I'd say 4000 hours, ***uming whoever is doing the work has experience doing similar stuff. Probably tack on another 1000 hours to do the rest, which should be the easy part, depending on what drivetrain you choose.
Here goes, car was in Norway. A very ambitious project. Lots of time, skill, patience and money needed to that standard. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/norwegian-zephyr-roadster-kustom.832818/#post-9233517
If I get this job, it will be for 2018 sema show, but I'm afraid that can't be done to fast without miss something in the way......the car in the rendering already exist...this picture I shot last month in VLV...I just don't know who build it...thx for the answer man.... The car in the picture you posted was built and owned by Roger O'Dell. He's on the HAMB. Send him a PM.
All depends on what out-come you want.....some people can slice and dice and use a stick welder.... Sent from my Z958 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The big design fail in THIS PROJECT is not to strech the front fenders. Sorry, for that, but it looks not very good. Don't make the same mistake.
12 Hours a day,20 days a month,360 days a year, give or take if you have the skills required and several sheets of metal. HRP
Thks for it bro....but I fail in search him...u maybe had the link for his profile???? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
For the record, I would love to follow along with this build and see that old sedan get turned into a slick custom coupe. I think it is a great idea. I just think it's going to take a huge number of hours. It would be well worth it if you've got the skills and money to pull it off. Go for it!
With a proposed design like the Boydish Zephyr coupe above (ugly IMHO) and a Mercedes V12 I foresee a short-lived build-thread here on the HAMB....
Sorry, it's a matter of taste. I don't want to offend anyone. For me it's a design fail to stretch the rear fender but not the front ones. But everybody can do with his car what he wants - personal happiness rules. The concept of the Boydish Zephyr coupe above (ugly also IMHO) I like much better. That body modification combined with the rough look of Mats-Henriks would be my choice.
I agree with u in parts, sometimes it's not about u luv, sometimes it's about what pay the bills.....kkkkk...[emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Personally, I like the stretched front fenders...[emoji1360][emoji1360] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
No man...there's nothing strange, it's just personal taste....take a look, personally I hate banjo style steering wheels, instead the rest of the world looks love them...(I just don't know why, but it happens...kkkk) Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm confused about the rear fenders beings streached, which car. If referring to my car, the rear fenders were streached twice first about 6 inches, didn't look long enough , then streached about another 10'inches. Not positive about the numbers, the car was finished in 2000. Also streached the trunk. And the car is on it's third set of tires. Not a daily driver (my 49 merc is). But it's driven a lot especially long trips, very comfortable. The viva vegas it left home, went to vegas, then to Williams as to see a friend since jr high , who now has cancer, and who hopes to live till June to see his son graduate. Then drove home.
You have a very nice Zephyr. I like that it's different than the rest. In fact it's one of my favorite Zephyr. If any of you guys are looking for one I have a 40 four door that I'm looking to sell. I have two door doors and 2 coupe tops for it Sent from my SM-G920V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Like I told you in PM, for me it's one of the awesome cars on my favorite list.....the only wrong part of your car, ITS NOT MINE....kkkkk....good job bro...[emoji6][emoji1360] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
