I don't know about many of you, but I so relate to this picture. When I was living in Maine, my dad would buy a truck load of tree length hard wood that we would cut with a chain saw and then we would split those stumps with a maul and sledge hammer. We would then split the smaller pieces with an axe, even making kindling with a hatchet. I was in fantastic shape by the end of August. As my dad got older, he'd rent a hydraulic splitter, and eventually after I had gone off into the world, he bought it all pre-cut. I tell you what, you appreciate the warmth during ass-deep snow winter after all of that effort.

This the junction of Hwy 99 and Peoria Road just north of Harrisburg Oregon. Peoria Road is one of the prettiest drives in Oregon. There is a Mennonite Bakery on this road that has some awesome goodies. Think maple bar pizza and snickerdoodles

  5. I buy a couple of cords every fall and store it in my garage. It's already cut to length so all I do is split it with my old trusty maul. We have both a gas furnace and a wood stove. The wood heat is always so much better than what the furnace puts out.

We had two Franklin stoves and the one downstairs where the bedrooms were (reversed floorplan - we lived on a lake, nice view) had soapstone panels and an electric fan, scrumptious heat.

  14. Pops sprung for the V8 and backup lights on the 210 wagoon! 1st design bumper ends. Already out of whack, backed into something or poor factory alignment/gaps? Having seen assembly line films, the workers had precious few seconds to install each part. Could go either way.
OK, just had to dork out on the tri 5.
Now the youngster in the 'lil CJ2 has a rare ride indeed. Very keen!
Bomb - thanks for all the pics! You are ''The Bomb''. But you knew that.
