Maybe. There's more to it than just flipping them.... In order to set the new lower (square) edge even with the grill/bumper, the upper end would be quite a bit back into the fenders. Not saying it wouldn't work, or be better... but it might look just as odd.

May be a bit of a "scoop shovel" look...

Neat little shoebox convertible. I like the chop on the sedan to the right of it in the last pic....except for the tiny rear window. Looks pretty cool with the leaned back windshield though.

Rear-in treatment looks very similar to this British Columbia custom from way back when.

I can't stop looking at that first picture. That 58 has got a really cool profile. WILD. Never seen anything like it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that is probably the wildest '58 Ford I have ever seen. Definitely the wildest wagon.
Pretty much like everything but the rear end treatment.

 

Got to agree with that somewhat, history would be interesting as to when it was built, however, lots of people didn't like these two radical rancheros either:

 

I remember when the Trendero hit the magazines, I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen. (yes I am that old).
The abbreviated one at the top has some styling that just doesn't seem well thought out, kind of like they got to a point and didn't know where to go from there. Not bad just looks unfinished.

The first one is a famous custom from the late 50's/early 60's.

It wasn't like that at first as it was a customized 1957 Ranchero and was featured in the Custom Car October 1958 magazine:
It was known as the Richard Lee Tiago ranchero.



It was in a bad accident shortly after that and got re-done into a radical custom by cutting off 2 feet in the back half.
Once again it was a feature car but in the July 1959 Car Craft issue:

Other than the side trim and fender flares doesn't look like it's been changed too much.

Sadly, way out of my reach.

Neat old custom convertible for sale. Not sure if I see $49,000 there but would definitely like to see it get into the hands of someone who appreciates it's history.

 

1957 Nash Metropolitan, completely custom from top to bottom, chopped roof and laid back windshield, channeled body, stretched axles, modified wheel cut outs.
