I like AC/DC. As far as hard rock that was about it. CCR, Bob Seger, that what I grew up with. The best music is 2 gassers leaving the line, and then hearing them go through the gears.

That is true but there will be some there.

  5. the meltdown may not have many se gassers but they can fill the void with nitro. everything goes faster with nitro.

  6. I never bore scoped it because the leakdowns are all about 12% which is where they were before the first start this season. The new lifters are a different shape than last year - they don't have a notch where the oil galley comes in. They are just a straight plug of steel. I don't have a pic. My current theory is the oil that was splashing in the lifter valley before has made the volume to the rockers higher than last year. Literally everything else is the same - same pump same heads etc.

So - drain hole #1 - will try it out and see if it needs another up front.

Then to just completely spend a Saturday on fun stuff. I start my kickout oil pan

    IMG_4932.JPG

Of course I'm proud of my little kickout so I sent a picture to @402BOSSMAN he says BIGGER. Hell I'm all about BIGGER! Let's open this sucker up!

And after 4 failed water leak tests - I officially hate this more than making headers - or maybe not .......

  8. Love that movie - its hard to sneak up on an Indian. Hey are you going to Paradise on Saturday? I might haul up there and see if the mosquito fogger is fogging less.

Do a leak test with some anti freeze, that shit will find a void!

  11. What a time consuming PITA  had nothing else to do so :D

I need to get @3dnsouth to put a little TIG on these. Nick made longer stacks out of the left over tube - gonna test some flow theory -

Since we're quoting songs and movies - CLUTCH - Escape From The Prison Planet - I told Nick - Theories Will Be Tested!

You can buy a deal to hook to a smart phone really cheap. They work good and you can always have it with you. Plus you can enlarge stuff if you can't see like me.

  14. Thanks for reading along - maybe someday it can save someone some Hemi Headaches - my latest one :

There's a guy on Ebay selling 'ready to run' 392 dizzy's - I've had a bunch of trouble with distributors so I got one of these a while back. It got me running at Shady Side - so it did save the day - but it was wobbling like HELL!! So I decided to check it - its not the Small Block Mopar distribuotrs fault - he's got a pinned sleeve that he puts on the end of the shaft.

Oy Vey! Doesn't anyone check the stuff they sell anymore?

This is how Hot Heads solves the Mopar shaft length for a Hemi issue and it works :

  15. I have had good luck with the msd ready to run unit. I run it locked out with a crank trigger.

With a crank trigger you only need a rotor and a cap to to trow the spark.
If you ever put a timing light on an engine with a crank trigger it looks like the mark is welded to the timing tab on the cover.....not like a pickup or points in the dist.
That must be why some classes wont let you run them.

  18. the msd ready to run can be used without the crank trigger.

  19. Do they have a mechanical tach drive version? I didn't see one offered and I ran the last race with no tachometer.

Tony, do the rules require a mech. tach? MSD boxes that I have dealt with have an electrical tach hookup.

All I know is I had an electrical tach in my sbc powered '53 Stude in '65 that came outta a '63 Chev. SS. Seemed to work OK for me.

  22. I had a sun electronic tach in my 383 '63 Plymouth. It had a black box sender. Been a long time ago, but it I put it in no later than '65.

There was no black box with the OEM Chev. tach I was using, hooked up straight to the wire between coil and points.
I do remember the Sun tachs with the black box.

Sun had the one with the black box, they had problems with it. I had one years ago, seen one of the boxes on ebay the other day.

  25. You can run an electric tach in the SEG - I just prefer my mechanical - that pic above is a 440 or 383 dizzy. The rotation of the tach drive is opposite of my magneto - but the mechanical tach doesn't care about the rotation - still works.

  26. im not aware of a tach drive msd. that does not mean it cant be used with a mechanical tach. there are drives available that work off the fuel pump. there were all kinds of crazy adaptors to run different components. I think it would look cool use one. I prefer mechanical tachs.

If you want a crank scraper, Ishahara Johnson can build it. My build is similar to yours, 4.525 crank and Milodon 4 bolt main conversion, and I am currently working on fitting the IJ scraper.

  29. WillyB- great music choices! Beethoven was actually almost completely deaf by the time he wrote his 9th (had lost a great part of it when he composed the 5th). At one point, he had the legs cut off his favorite piano and had it set on the wooden floor to amplify the sound (like an extra resonator), and would lay down with his ear pressed against the floor, hammering on the keys to try to physically hear what he wrote.
Not too sure about mathematics being applied (a little too structured for his fiery personality and temper), but there are many stories of Beethoven feverishly scribbling down his musical ideas on anything that he could- tablecloths, wall paper, etc the moment they popped into his head- didn't want to lose anything he thought up. Along with the rules of music theory, Beethoven had a tremendous experience and understanding of the tone and timbre of the instruments he wrote for, and used audiation to compose- the ability to hear sound without any sound being physically present. In a nutshell, without singing, think of the song "Happy Birthday"- if you can hear it in your head, that's audiation!

  30. WillyB - its time for you to piss off! I am done hearing about your damn TET shit and what ever other airplane bullshit you used to do - so PISS OFF! And no I have not had my coffee yet.
