I bought a "new" set of Aldan Eagle Shocks from a guy off of eBay and once they got here they needed rebuilding. I contacted Aldan about them and they stated they rebuild them "Free" Wow score right? The guy at Aldan stated that there was a 2-3 day turnaround on the shocks. Has anyone dealt with Aldan direct. These shocks look awesome but man it sucks that as soon as I got them I have to ship them out again. I guess what I'm asking is before I send them is his statement about 2-3 days genuine or am I in for the long haul waiting for them to come back...
I have a set of them on my roadster but bought them new. Well after 10+ years and two rebuilds they have taken care of them at NO COST AT ALL! You want to talk about a great company to deal with!! I would have to say my spring are on the soft side for a great ride so I'm sure if I tightened the spring rate up I woldn't have blowen one out.. the guys at Aldan built the struts for our pro mods. They are just amazing when it comes to backing up thier work. if every American company had thier lever of warranty-lifetime means LIFETIME- there would not be a honda on this soil.period.
When I worked at a shop in LA, we rebuilt a guy's 27 tudor with a Kugel rear and Aldan coil-overs. He was kind of a picky bastard and wanted them softer, then firmer, then softer... never within the adjustment ranges either. Made a few trips to Aldan to change the coils and every time they were accomodating and fast... great products and people without exception IMO!
I sent my shocks off to Aldan a little over a week ago. I contacted Aldan yesterday and spoke with Feral about the status of my shocks and he said "they went out to you on the 19 th" they showed up at my house today after I left for work. My wife opened the box and they seem to be perfect. Talk about fast sevice and great warranty, They didnt even charge for return shipping...
it rides like shit right now because I still have the 1x1 struts installed until I can the shocks mounted tomorrow.
i just bought a set of Aldan american rear coil over shocks with out springs at a swap meet for $25.00 i was tickled pink , sounds like if i send them to Aldan they will rebuild them (one shock is very easy to pull in and out) the seller said they need repacking.Sounds like i should send them to Aldan what do you think?

Sure, they will rebuild/service for $129 a pair or offer you $75 credit for something else. They would nto rebuild mine for free. Bummer because that's why I bought them used and blown thinking I could get them lifetime warranty rebuilt...on Continentaljohns post content! :-( I guess I dont have the original receipt so Im out. How firm should these be? There is considerable resistance in both directions but the knob doesnt seem to alter the rebound. I have some shocks that I can barely move, these are not that stiff, and if you lay them on their side, you can work an 'air bubble' into them and have 1" of free play in the motion, but it clears right up when you put them back to vertical?
In my experience with dirt car racing shocks, you can’t test them by collapsing and extending them by hand. You need a shock dyno.
Does anybody know if they rebuild the Spax Eliminator Shocks by Aldan? Back when, Frank Aldana had the company, he used to sell shocks to Pete & Jake’s Temple City (that’s how long ago P-Wood built this chassis)..... I know it has different owners now. Mine make a terrible noise when initially going for a ride. Initially I Thought that I had a ladder bar or Panard bar binding, but these shocks have needed attention for a little while........
Hello I worked at Aldan for over 20 years. I rebuild the older Aldan eagles, the steel Aldan, Spax's, Hal's and Avo's. Back in the day, tight A-arm shock mount means some new shock upper & lower mounts won't fit.Double check before buying new shocks. Note:ladder bar cars needs the shock bolts to follow the ladder bar bolts.(side to side)NOT FRONT TO BACK as this with destroy the bushing in no time. 562-283-3499 Ferrel

How can you tell if the Aldan Eagle coil-over shocks are bad , they were installed 2006 with around 22 thousand miles?
I had a rod that I put the red steel Alden coilovers on the rear. They would start to leak about every five years after lots of miles. I would mail them in with a copy of my purchase receipt and in a few days they would be back, good as new! Great to deal with. Phil
