With Indy just around the corner I thought this was appropriate:
"It was May of 1952 when Fred Agabashian’s crew towed into Indianapolis with a glistening low-slung early Frank Kurtis roadster. Quite remarkably it was diesel-powered. From INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY – 100 Years Of Racing, by Ralph Kramer. (IMS photo)"

This photo was made down the street from me. My buddy worked there.

  19. Watching "Tarantula" on AMC!
Besides Matt's cool Ford (pictured here) what strikes me is the lack of people! The California desert (Desert Rock) is relatively unpopulated, deserted and undeveloped. The US population was only about 169 million, HALF of what it is now! Giant spiders notwithstanding, the desert is so beautiful. No F'n casino's, motels, power lines, 4 lane highways, freeways, billboards....mostly.....nothing.This is the best thing about days gone by...the lack of shit that people have polluted the earth with! Small town America still existed! It was DARK at night! AND, the thing we will NEVER get back. Peace, quiet and not too many damn people! Unspoiled and BEAUTIFUL AMERICA.
    AAAAAAHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHH! LOOOK OUT!

  21. Girls getting ready for the Portland Rose Festival Parade ~ 1957

  22. The Rose Parade? Where the heck are they?I can't place that bridge anywhere near the Rose Parade route! Matter of fact I can't place it anywhere in Portland proper. ???????

  23. Maybe they're waiting for a shuttle into Portland? - that's what the caption said on the photo, posted by the now grown up girl on the left. She said it was a drizzly parade and the dye ran on their costumes.
