Rootie, do you know which car this is? Off hand I'm not recognizing it.

    Thanks!

It's the #32 Cop-Sil-Loy Spl. that Andy Linden drove in 53.

    Thanks Rootie.

In the original photo it kind of looks like some kind of gear change setup in between the transmission and the rear end at the front of the torque tube. I don't remember seeing one quite like it.

Yeah, it's a offset drive setup similar to a 4wd's transfer case. I might be wrong but I think this car went on to become the Robbins car that Hoyt put on the pole in 1955. If so, it looks as they ditched the drive set up and offset the motor (?)

That's pretty cool! I know it wasn't all sunshine and roses back then, but it looks pretty great in pics. Then again maybe it was all sunshine and roses.....

They were called Meteors in Canada. Sold new at the Mercury dealerships. A nicer looking grill than the Fords.:)

When I see a pre WW1 coffin nose car my first assumption is "a Renault". Also by the looks of the buildings this is France. (Those big WW1 Renaults were fine cars, btw.)

Here's another old French Car, presumably a Renault, Western Front just after cessation of hostilities.
Don't think I've posted it previously.

Good guess. The pic was taken by Eugene Atget. He lugged a huge 8 x 10 view camera around Paris to document the architecture in Paris before it was lost to modernization, and he was later recognized for his artistry.

Where and what race is this?
Any idea, what car #46 is?
Hub caps remind me of the 1st generation VW Beetle, but then deep baby moons were quite common in early 50's.

I'm not sure, but IIRC it may be a Gordini.

I am no expert in 50's endurance race cars, but I tried to search for post-war Gordini cars.
    What I found are the following; 1st one is 1953-54, the 2nd & 3rd photo 1948-50 bodies.
The shapes are different from the one I asked and all have grille for air intake in front.
Thus I doubt the #46 is Gordini...
