Well shit. Got trans back out of my car to put Lakewood bell housing in. Won't fit. Falcon ain't got enough room for that big tomato can. Will I be able to run if I put a cast iron one in instead of aluminum one I took out?? Help. I'm pissed , drinking and hoping for an intervention

Too much to beat clearance. 393" Windsor. No idea what it will run. Should have 10 second potential but probably won't get out of the 14s. I think it will be the only car with an orange triangle. Never been down the track. Just scared NHRA tech will thumbs down.

Won't be fast in the beginning. Not been down track yet. Lotsa shakedown yet. If I'm running a manual and slicks I thought I had to have a scatter shield.

Here at the mokan if you are running slicks at all doesn't matter if it would get passed by the street sweeper it has to have a scattershield it's not nhra track but it is a ahra track but I'm pretty sure that is the normal rule of thumb not to mention the safety factor

Need to get one of those flywheels.......It's just the right thing to do now that we know better....and it's safer for the fan's.
Do you have an auto to put in it just to make the show?

  18. Get a QuickTime Bellhousing if a stock Bellhousing fits a QuickTime will also. I have seen clutches come apart and let me tell you $600 for the bellhousing is way cheaper that fixing the damage caused from clutch explosions. And that's if u still have your feet.

Is it just the flange that doesn't fit?Like interferes with your headers?
Cause notching them just a touch to clear a couple tubes is pretty common practice.

You may not have to spend any bucks at all.:)

I would look at getting a billet steel flywheel though.Salty is right on the money there...See one exploded flywheel, and you'll never think of running a cast iron one again.

  23. Its real simple. If you cant afford a scattershield then you surely cant afford a stay in the icu while they try to reattatch your feet. There is plenty of time for everyone to do a safety check before the event. Both on the car and rule book.

That's an old picture from another thread on the Jalopy Journal.
Does a pretty good job of illustrating how bad things can go in a hurry.

I have seen one in a 57 Chevy and one in a 78 Ford truck wasn't pretty.....man that truck ran hard for a 300 6...didn't take long to figure out a 390 carb wasn't big enough....and factory lockers where a crap shoot.

For anyone local, don't forget to get out to Great Lakes Dragway this weekend in Union Grove, WI for the First 20 years reunion. Over 100 Meltdown approved cars will be out there match racing and getting ready for the Meltdown Drags...

The weather forecast keeps getting better and better and we are going to have an awesome weekend of racing!
