  1. 302GMC I agree with what your saying on the wheel cylinders on this car.I had another 56 Chrysler Windsor a few years back and I didn't have a lick of trouble with the brakes except to replace the front brake shoes. Let me see if I can find a picture of it. I painted it a metlic green.{It originally belonged to J.F.K.s aunt. The guy wanted another $800 for the diary that went on the car about its history with her and the car but I p***ed on it}I still have a copy of all the past registations on it though. She ran like a swiss clock too.I Should of never let her go but I sold it to get that 56 buick station wagon I had so much trouble with. Oh well live and learn Right? Bruce. Justin021.JPG

Don't wet sand Slick Sand. Wow, say that fast 3 times:eek: It's all very dependent upon how deep the pitting really is. Rattle a little semi-flat Krylon on a couple of the bad spots and sand a bit. You'll see how deep it is and whether or not you have enough fill in there. A spot application of add'l primer won't hurt. If they're small and spotty, like here n there, try a little Metal Glaze finishing putty. Dries fast, really dense, shouldn't shrink if not used to excess. The real work is ahead, sanding. Watch close, your car will turn into a limo right before your eyes...;)

  5. P
Highlander. Thanks for the tips buddy. I still have a good half a gallon of the slick sand primer left. I will wait the 72 hours before doing anything. P.S. I don't know about a limo. LOL. Bruce.

  6. Thanks 40Standard.Bruce.

  7. 001.JPG I snapped a couple more pictures this morning. I don't know if these are any better. I have it in the shop now and am going to try and bleed that left front brake and to see if I have changed the rubber brake hoses on it. I know I put a new master cylinder and replaced the rubber brake hose that comes off the master cylinder and goes to the junction box.I just cant remember about the ones at the brake drums.LOL.Bruce.

  8. Bleeding the left front wheel seem to work{I got some air out it} it brakes better now, but I am still going to order a set of front rubber brake hoses for the old girl .Bruce.

It's like this; as you begin to sand, say at the front fender, the distance won't look so bad from there to the end of the qtr panel. Right about the time you're into the middle of the door it'll look further away, and so on, and so on, and so on...:D It's like they grow longer!

In all honesty I'm not a four door kind of guy, but this is a unique ride and I'm looking
forward to seeing it finished. Good luck with it, Bruce.

  22. Bruce....my vote is for the metallic dark gray color. The metallic or even a little blast of pearl into the dark gray will make your Chrysler "POP" in the bright sunlight.

Nice car Bruce. A gunmetal metallic grey would look amazing on that body.

Bruce I think metallic grey would look wonderful.I always thought those 55-56 big Chryslers were some of the best looking big cars of their era.
