    You don't want one of those big ugly things.All they do is attract cameras,ruin your rear tires,make people stare at you, whine, and make little engines big [emoji3]

    Back to Byron Meltdown to do list!
    * leak down engines
    * change head gaskets on RH engine
    * pin rocker studs RH engine
    * check cam gear RH engine
    * install coolant Puke Tank (been running dry for 1/8th mile but if I'm on a good pass we're going for the 1/4 mile stripe.)
    * check clutch
    * check ring gears
    * mount new tires

    "Back to Byron" Evil Twin Shirts AVAILABLE!

  5. Rocky - just a heads-up that Byron requires water as coolant instead of (glycol) anti-freeze. Their rule applies to all modified cars, which is everything participating at the Meltdown Drags.

    My 9 inch rear end seems to be puking gear oil out the vent. Is this normal? Or am I about to have a catastrophic failure of some sort? It is a limited slip if that makes a difference.

    And the track informed me that it is straight water only. No additives.

    I fill it until it is level with the bottom of the fill hole? The vent comes directly out of thetop of the housing. I have the vent hose about a foot long tied to the body, but it is nearly the same height as the top of the rearend. I do run it kind of hard, and it turns 3200 on the highway

    You may want to use one of those heat guns to see how hot it is after a road trip.
    If you use synthetic gear oil it my help.

    plug that vent hole, put a new one in an axle tube?

  15. good
    Sounds to me like the ring gear is throwing the lube at the vent hole and thermal expansion is pushing it out.

    Squirrel is right - put the vent on the tube closer to the spring perch

    I have fretted over the rear end all weekend long.

    It won first place and then promptly set a new precedence for leaving a car show!

    I'm sure my time could be put to better use but I'm waiting for parts. Sooo I made up some new headlight blanks. I know , it's trivial but it is cool!
