    I visited that hotel, before they tore it down...even in disrepair, it still had an aura of dignified grandness about it.

    If I recall correctly, they tried to save it....but the land on which the rambling giant stood was too valuable for it to remain, and the costs of renovating it was astronomical.

    Additional footnote: The cupola is the only part of the hotel left, on display at Fortunato Park on the Halifax River...not far from where it graced the top of that proud structure.[​IMG]

  16. My old man never stopped the Studebaker anyplace where there was the slightest chance you could spend money. But as soon as I got wheels reliable enough to go that far, I'd conjur up a reason to go north and always made it a point to stop there with a girlfriend.
