Thanx Mike. I do 'blame' you for my newly aquired sickness of these early cars. I look forward to being sick for a long time. The group of friends I have made in the last few years are fun, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and willing to help anytime. As Mike stated, this is my first early Ford. Before this I only had Chevy musclecars. Every step in this build was new to me so I had to reach out for help all the time. Mike, Josh, Ray, Pete, Nick, Nils (the Torrnados) Members of the Camsnappers, my brothers Robert&Scott, all answered my calls and answered my questions. Sometimes I placed multiple calls per guy per day and I never got the feeling like I was being a pain in the ass. Great people in this hobby.
I am fortunate that I can call these guys my friends.

good bunch of guys on your list....
blindowl, on your list, has always helped me out, having the rusty panels I crave... thanks...

I know that is off topic and I won't do it again. Pretty cool though.

I have video of the HMS Bounty passing by the first TROG trying to outrun hurricane Sandy. That didn't end to well.

Since my car broke at TROG, it has been sitting quietly, alone in the corner thinking about what it did. I think it learned it's lesson so now it is time to put it on the street. 20170702_115623.jpg plans include an electronic ignition, alternator disguised as a generator, and some body panel tuning. That'll be a start. . .

It was a hard lesson learned a couple weeks ago. In 6 weeks (with a lot of help) the car was wired, welded, plumbed, bled, tuned, re-tuned, re-welded, motor rebuilt (rings, bearings). And then we get to Jersey I was just not ready. Too much to do with not enough time. Now I have a whole bunch of time.

Hey don't be hard on yourself WD, going racing, any kind of racing is a major endeavor.
Race cars are like helicopters, 10-15 manhours of prep for every hour of running. I used to run a Formula Ford here in the northeast championship and you'd get to mid-August and you'd be so tired you couldn't wait for the season to end. :)
    Next year!

Look at the bright side, only a tow to Jersey not Bonneville! Pretty much the same deal for me only with 2 wheels when I prepped and took my bike to the salt for the second time in '72. Time will smooth the rough edges, make for a great war story on down the road. Keep the faith, the downs haven't got to me yet, currently in the middle of a last min mild thrash helping a buddy get his car back together and loaded for a safari to Loring next week.

don't drink much now but when I did, I often made the big mistake of drinking Seagram's VO and a splash of ginger like it was Molson's golden...

Got another bullet the other day. 49 truck motor and trans. It is stuck but complete. Going to fill it w/Marvel, wait and see. . . 20170707_200011.jpg 20170707_200050.jpg anyone know about the trans? It is pretty big, maybe a granny gear 4spd?

  23. That is indeed a granny gear 4spd. It's probably got a 11" clutch in there. Good for a doodlebug, hauler, or big truck resto.

They are heavy. I sold one and got screwed by UPS because it was like, 158 Lbs crated and they fined me close to $100 for that 8lbs. Some folks need them, but they are few and far between. The guy that bought mine needed a lower gear for parades so he didn't need to ride the brake in his truck at idle. That's my story.

I've got an 11" clutch in my 34. I'm not feeling too great about it but it was on the bench when I put the car together so it is what it is. If it blows my toes off my feet I'll let you know haha

my 4 banger was stuck, in December I dumped a 50/50 mix of ascetone and tranny fluid [ford of course] in each hole,
went back when the snow melted [march], it turned over with no click, it turns free and has compression...
    happy campa !
hope yours does as well... DSCN0578.JPG

The guys who rebuild the gas turbines at the plants use 50/50 on those pesky 42,000ft/lb studs that hold the two halves together. They said it works the fastest.

I gave that recipe to Sloppy Jalopies last fall and I can tell you he was skeptical at best. I have been using 50/50 acetone and ATF for over 50 years and have never found anything that works as well, and you can't beat the price.

Took the distributor off, The points look good and still in gap. It was wet w/oil around the caps and the rotor had water spots on it. I took the right pump off for inspection because the left one cooked it's bearing. The pump looks, feels ok. 20170713_192643.jpg

  29. Well, I guess your suspicions were correct with that dizzy. Good that you got back and put in a lot of work back into it! Hopefully once you get it fixed it'll run like a top.

Remember that time you built a hotrod and drove it onto the beach at TROG ... such a bad ass.
