    I really had to look several times to figure out what the heck was on her head. At first glimpse, I thought it was some sort of ear thing with the hair, then a giant bow in black.

    That's the Wheeler-Schebler Trophy, awarded from 1914 to 1932 to the car that led the Indy 500 at 400 miles. It was retired & given to Harry Hartz (pictured with the trophy & the 1932 winning car), whose cars led at 400 mi in 1930, 1931 & 1932. It is currently in the Speedway Museum.

    It is in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, not to be confused with Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed.
