Zoran, I believe that you are correct about those two (J.A.P.) engines not being connected.
A joke from Ewan, the builder?

    You have sharp eyes.

    Hello Herb,
Not so sharp eyes, but I was thinking that it should be too much power for single-wheel drive and too much weight on front axle... Then, tyres turned around... So, I took a few more looks at contruction!
    Anyway, cute "project"...

    Ciao,
    Zoran

I love the idea of new technology improving the viability of traditional techniques, rather than otherwise.

It's ironic that so many people on the HAMB are afraid of timber body framing, as it is a method which arose out of the wide availability of woodworking technology. By contrast, pressed steel construction was about capitalizing on the fact that only a few organizations enjoyed access to the technology/infrastructure involved. Hence the process by which the automobile was by stages recast as increasingly a thing you and I can't make.

Laser-cutting the wood so it goes together like a jigsaw puzzle brings back the old accessible technology minus a lot of skill scarcity. It'd be beautiful if all the dxfs for, say, a '30 Chevy wood kit were floating about forums like the HAMB.

Woodframing originated in carriage building then moved into the auto arena. However, metal framing allowed the body to have greater structural integrity, thus giving it longer life.Just like the employ of metal framing in auto manufacturing, the use of a laser cut body substructure allows this vendor to offer a quality product at a reduced cost and greater profit. For a small business this is a necessity in order to survive.
