{LOUDBANG } Thanks for finding all these great photos! My latest, and very slow project, is an altered 27 T coupe. I may take some black and whites and post them here. lol Thanks again for all your post, and hope you keep finding them!!! Ron...
Got the new Rodders Journal today and went straight to the Luzader story. That picture was probably from 1968 when he won Comp Eliminator at Indy. There were 1000 cars running in "Modified" and about 200 running in "Comp" so Harry decided his odds were better in Comp. This was what Virg Cates was famous for and sure enough Virg was also running Altered. I'd heard Harry telling the story about he and Virg at that race, and sure enough it is included in the story. Don't want to give away the story, be sure to go to this article first when you get your magazine. Great article!!!
OK Hambers need help searching for Mikio Yoshiokas' STONE "T" fuel altered. Mikio gave me the succession of ownership that he knows of. Sold the Altered in 1972 at the Super Nationals Ontario, Calif. to a fella named Mike from Half Moon Bay Calif., no last name. Sold to a Al Castro, Mentone Calif. In 1975-76 car had a small block chevy in it at the Winter Nationals. Al Castro moved to Eureka Montana and sold the car to someone in Washington State. Last known transaction. Date unknown.
suggest you try Ken Gentry, nhra chassis inspector, he gets all over west coast and lives in Idaho. He loves to talk about the old cars.
Conaway & Woodhouse BB/ Altered at the Tulsa NHRA World Finals 1967. They got eliminated by Joe Davis Brown & Irving A/A InsaniT Robert Gillman's stretched out Ford T roadster with 409 Chevy power.
NOT Stan Bowman. It is Al Vanderwoude, he is standing behind the car. He ran the altered after funny car racing.
Where is the picture at? That was months ago and I forget what photo it was. Stan ran a series of cars starting with altereds and then Funnies. He called them the "Flying Dutchman" until Vanderwoude threatened to sue him.
I just HAD to go find the picture and see which one it was. Then I went to photos I had scanned for a friend quite a while ago. He had half a dozen "Flying Dutchman" altered photos taken over 5 years. I just took it for granted the last was still Stan, not knowing what Al Vanderwoude looked like. Looks like aafa729 is right. I just love this $hit!!!!
OK Pacers Fans came across several more shots. These are in addition to the ones in my first post way back when Except for this one at the 1964 Nationals on a record setting run the rest are all from Island Dragway
A few shots we just got back from Dragstrip photographer Todd Dziadosz of our Hilltown Shaker doing some shakin, needless to say we put the wheelie bars back on after this one
Don's Speed Shop Raceway Park Plain Vanilla Rattler at Island Dragway Rea Sullivan Sullser Helmick Wally Lynn SOHC power
Probably an A/FX build that got caught out when they were still figuring out what to do with this type car and got put in altered for awhile.
You know, I did some research, that is an incredible car. If people didn't pick up on this. That Is a S.O.H.C. car.

Since the '31 finishing up, I have SUCH an itch to build a steel bodied Topo for the street. Found an ex-racer steel body but need a little room before I pull the trigger on the next project.
great pics. I remember being at the nationals at BEELINE and saw that race. I was very young but still remember it to this day. thanx bud.
I do know the orange car. It used to belong to a guy named Bob that was affiliated with the KY Drag Racing Hall of Fame. He sold it to a guy in Winchester Ky and I can't think of his name. Dwayne Rader (427rouser on here) that owns the rebel rouser 32 Plymouth works on the car all the time for the owner. The name of the car is Tzer. Last time i saw the car run was in Clay City Ky when Bob still owned it. Had a junkyard 350 in it at the time. If you PM Dwayne he has lots of details.
