    Hello,

This photo is from the GM Van Nuys Plant in Los Angeles area. We had two cars coming out of this plant, the 1958 black Chevy Impala and the 1962 Corvair coupe. The 58 Impala was a new order from our local, then, downtown, Long Beach, Cormier Chevrolet. Now, that dealer is next to the 405 freeway, near the old Lions Dragstrip location. The Corvair was a used car.

Those assembly plants were always impressive to watch. Kudos to those that worked there. It was fascinating to see a car totally assembled. We along with many others kept them busy over the years.

“The plant was closed in 1992 when Camaro/Firebird production moved to Sainte-Thérèse Assembly in Quebec due to air quality remediation efforts. upload_2017-7-26_17-53-0.png
The site was razed in 1998. A retail and industrial complex, known as The Plant, resulted on the 68-acre (28 ha) site, as well as Station 81 of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The retail portion totals 365,000 square feet and is home to 35 retail stores and restaurants. A 16-screen movie theater honors the site history with an automotive theme décor.”
