Another time I had my turquoise and white 59 F100 and a woman said to me, I don't think I like that color.

I said to her, know what I think? I think your ass is to big and your tits ate too small. She left in a hurry.

I got to say the question that makes me boil every time is, did you paint it?

My reply ---- No, it took me 6 years to build it and about 6 hours for my buddy to paint it.

It just makes me go from 0-60 in 2 seconds flat every time I hear it.

It's fun to watch as most of you have said. Both my 100% restored 1939 Indian Scout and 56 Victoria get comments by the "experts". It's laughable at times because they are sure it's a Crown but "looks different".
With my Indian (which has been in our family since 1943) I immediately leave it once it's on the rear stand because it's impossible to correct all what's said about it. The best is when I go to leave and it starts on the first kick. My quote is always the same, "it's a miracle". It's also fun when they see me put in ear plugs then ask questions.... I can't believe people are that blind....oh wait yes I can....

My buddie had his roadster at a local show when this dude notices the garter hanging on the rear view mirror.
" Is that a girls car?" Buddie tells him "Yea, it my old ladies car, she couldn't be here today cause she had to work at the whore house" " You mean your wife is a prostitute" "No,no she ain't a prostitute, shes just a substitute, one of the regular girls was sick"

Hell, I'm 6'-8", can you imagine the questions I get on a daily basis? In most cases questions about our cars are the start of an interest. I support that interest even if it means answering the same question many times. For grins , I'd like to see every poster on this thread dare repeat the first pick up line they used on a member of the opposite sex. That could be entertaining.

If interest in our hobby is dying, don't you think we need to change how we think of these less then knowledgeable questions? I get it about the show off know it all types - to them I answer 5 foot 21 and three eighths.

  11. Got a couple- A few years back I had an "off topic" '66 Plymouth Barracuda that was that weird 60's greenish gold color. Guy walks around it a few times & says, " Yep, had one just like it, only mine was a blue Ford"
But my favorite are the people who know your car better than you do.
Can't remember the #of times I heard "interesting facts" about my hot rodded '56 Dodge pickup from the experts that seemingly roam any & all car shows / cruise nights know to man.

1st guy..." I had one just like that one, 'cept it was an Olds ...4 dr...green"
    Next guy:
"Do you pull that behind an RV?"

Most people ask me if my car was so & so's old race car. They nearly always have a smile on their faces, it tends to bring back fond memories.
Others want to know why I ruined a good car. I tell them it was junk before I got it. Gene

Our youngest daughter was that way at 16-19 years old. She helped me the most in the build. I'd hear someone ask about the car and I would just stand back and listen. She would start in with all the details about the motor (size, cam, heads, blower, etc), then go on about the trans and rear end. She knew almost as much about it as I did. I loved it! :D

They'd be all dazzled and not say a thing.

Two little olde ladies on break from the bank wandered over to the car show in the park and commented with glee "Oh look someone took a olde car and made it look like a PT Cruiser....How Fun".... 2 CAR SHOWS IN ONE DAY 2017 031.JPG

When ya going to paint it or what color are ya going to paint it happens all the time, they just look at me stupid when I tell them it is painted and it took 60 years to make it look like this, I don't have another 60 to redo it.
I overheard a guy explaining to his son the engine after I heard the kid ask "what type of motor is that?" Dad said "it's a hemi, see how the plugs go thru the valve covers?"
My daughter was like Montanal's. Grew up in the shop. When she was 16 she built a hot little 327, put a 4 speed behind it and then swapped it into her 6 cylinder 68 Camaro doing 90% of the work herself. She'd be at the cruise spots with it, these young guys would see a cute little girl with a Camaro so they would come around and try to impress her with their automotive "knowledge". She got quite good at making them look like a fool in short order!

  24. I was at a friends garage and a elderly lady ask him if my car was a Corvette and she had never seen one like that,he ask her what gave her the impression it was a Corvette and she said the hood is open and that's whats on the engine. HRP

  26. I was at a cruise-in with my Deuce roadster and a guy walks up and says,"That's a nice coupe",I didn't correct him and let it go,I just said "thanks."

His next comment was,"You must be a Clemson fan since you painted the car orange","No sir,I like the old Chevrolet orange color."

He says,"I would put fenders on it if it were mine"...I've heard that one beforeand said nothing.

He then said'" I wouldn't put a Chevrolet engine in a Ford"' and I stopped him in his tracks,"Excuse me sir,can you give me your name & phone number?" He than say's "why?"

"Because the next car I build I need to check with you before I do anything ,I will need to get your approval."

He got a funny look on his face and said,"I guess I ask for that",he then turned and walk away. HRP
