History Austin Gassers picture thread

pictures of Austin Gassers of the 1950s-1970s.

Heres one I just picked up:
Anyone have any pics of The Kinsel / Carter Austin? It ran B/gas with a SBC , & A/gas Supercharged with a 400ci Hemi on Alcohol 9 Sec 160mph, from Springfield IL. Ran at Alton @ many others in the Midwest in Division 3.

 

Found a source for photos of the greats and not so great Austin GASSERS real ones from the old days.

The Austin Strangler Devon roams the streets near Buffalo, NY as a gasser with a blown small block Chevy up front where it's supposed to be. The unchopped Big John Mazmanian Austin actually belonged to Jr Thompson. The Football belonged to Big John and was a totally different car. The Cottrel and Reichard Austin is now also from the Buffalo area and is Mike Kalinowski's Unfinished Business.

I know the car was parted out sometime after Big John finished the football. I believe it was replaced by Juniors Opel Kadett. Big John did buy the Dorset body for the Football from Junior Thompson, but it wasn't from the Austin Junior built and raced. I don't know what happened to the body afterwards.

 

The guy in the yellow shirt (Jeff Cryan) standing behind his chopped Austin in post 23 is partners and driver of the Ron Bizio Willys. He also owns The actual C&O Hydro Austin in post 27. There seems to be more Austins in western NY than anywhere else in the country.
