did you use these arms? I had these but they wedged up against the inside of the axle and had to get the ce's just curious. My clearance is right around there maybe 1/2" lower
They did touch slightly, but only at an extreme turning angle. I did grind them slightly, and it worked well. I figured that my best get would steering arms from the same axle manufacturer . Sent from my SM-J327P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have these exact same steering arms. I planned on using them if I cant get the steering link to fit between the 4 bar rods. With these I would run my tie rods and steering rod below the 4bar. Hope to be able to make the stock ones work though....
Got to roll the 41 out the garage today between rain storms to take a couple pics. It wasnt out for 5 minutes before the rains came back again... Damn you Tropical storm Cindy!!!....lol......
After about 5 different attempts to brace up the frame around the govonor , I came up with this. Fit the ring to the gap and welded it up. Best thing about it, I can install and and remove the govonor with the ring welded in. Should be strong enough. Still have to finish the driver side frame and booster mount.
My problem with these was that there was no room between the drop in the axle and you couldn't turn the car at all. The ce arms bolt up a different way the only compromise is they are lower than they need to be putting your tie rod ends too low for my liking which is why I was thinking of the 4 link set up so I can mount the tie rod on top of the steering arm. nice color by the way
What if you were to use your torch and heat the arms a bend them up? It's a very common thing to do....
Not sure what you mean by lower front shock mounts? I already posted an article in here about the front shock set up I put together. I think it was post # 105. I gave a pretty good detailed post about how to do it...including part numbers...check it out and see if it doesnt answer your questions...
I need to make some room in my garage, so I decided to clean up the rear inner fenders and wheel well area. I want to get them back mounted on the car to start making room in the garage. They were mostly just surface rusted and wire wheel on a grinder cleaned them up pretty fast. I sprayed a POR primer and then painted them to give it a cleaner look.
I have made a little progress in the last few weeks. Due to the Mercury overdrive trans, the brake booster took a little extra effort. Went with a dual 7 inch booster and 1 1/8 master. With the pedal ratio and all the other math involved felt like the right choice. Power brakes are one of my choice modern upgrade( driving hwy 70 around st.louis). The nicopp line showed up today, and in the throws of trying to get a driveshaft made for the old slip yoke. Old 2r style?
Driveshaft in, brakes bled, trans filled, motor mounts tight. Ready to test fit the body this week and check out how it sits.
Looks great! That front end is nice and low. Cant wait to see how it sits with the body on. Looks like you used the same fuel tank and electric pump as I did. Im hoping to fire up the engine this week as soon as I get the high rise manifold and 4 barrel carb mounted.
I couldn't wait. Got it done today. I'm real pleased. I might go 2 more in the rear, but i think the springs will settle some. Right now i have 23 inches front and 25 rear , meassured at the wheel arch. 5 inch clearance at the front nose and 5 3/4 at the lowest point on running boards
hyvolt where in warrenton are you? I live in wright city. also wondering who built your driveshaft for you Tom
I'm North of town on 47. Inland truck parts in st Charles did the shaft. There is a drive shaft shop in Wright city, "dynamic" , he just wanted to retube my aluminum instead of cutting and balancing. Sent from my LG-LS993 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I used dynamic to make mine 41 ford p/u w350/350 he talks a good story but have some vibration at lower speeds Tom
Way cool, @Hyvolt I'll have to catch up with you one of these times when I'm up a dad's house. He is over in New Melle.
Sounds good to me. Any of you local guys have anything flathead ford powered? I'd really like to take a ride in a flathead powered machine.
Awesome work guys. I'm planning to rework my setup this winter. 47 Tudor stock drivetrain now with lowered rear (janky shackles the PO made) and lowered front (poses 3" drop reverse eye and a sid's dropped axle) Planning to go with a t5 behind the flathead and probably a parallel leaf setup like you're running. Just need to stay budget friendly. Side note I'll be working in Warrenton the next couple months as we remodel the Casey's store there.
Let me know when your in town! I'll have Ya over. I wanted to run sids axle but at the timehe was 8 weeks out, and i was trying to get done with the axle on vacation. Sent from my LG-LS993 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I started to do a little body work yesterday and got carried away....I decided to strip the old crappy paint off. Got the entire body done. Still have the fenders and hood to do. Over all, shes pretty solid.
