Event Coverage The Yay-Hoo Cup and the winner is????? pic now

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by porknbeaner, Aug 22, 2017.

  1. Sooooo I want to ***** but I got nuthin to ***** about. Once again you guys came through and gave the Yay-Hoo some real decent racin'. Maybe you don't think that you did but that's because you were not standing on my side of the wire while you were makin' a p***.

    I got to say something here before I get to the important stuff. I got a real soft spot for drivers, that is why I took the cup when the Yay-Hoos were ready to p*** it on. You all got to understand, I have had opportunity to lay a wrench on some pretty fast cars in my time, dedicated race cars that had one purpose and one purpose only go really fast for 1320 feet. The Yay-Hoo takes me back to my roots. I started racing in a car that had to get me to and from school, work and wherever else I needed to be. To me the very heart of Traditional Gr*** Roots Drag Racing is racing the daily driver. It takes guts to get out and hammer the livin' devil out of a car that you have to drive on Monday.

    I keep the cup in my office and see it every day. Every time I look at it think of you fellas. Not just the names on the cup, they have pulled off a win but everyone that drives his car to the track, races it like someone else was footing the bill and drives it home again. That is traditional racin' and will always will be to me, it is damned close to my heart and you guys make my weekend.

    So the list of the few that I am proud to mention here:

    @flamedabone
    @pontiacguy
    @Russco
    @mcmopar
    @jho
    @lho

    Also I should mention @raven, @jeepgirlie, and the Pharos who's help and support is priceless. And of course @Ryan and family who make it possible for us to play.

    Now if you are still reading all this blather this years winner is @racer-x. He was working through all the stuff that one must with new car and trying to shake it out but he finally made it fly. and l fly it did to the tune of 8.93

    Thank you all for bringin' 'em out. You all made my day.

    Note: If you got pics I am sure that everyone else looking wants to see your car so f you got pics post 'em.

  10. Its actually a '31 Chrysler, 156 on the big end and in and out of it at least 3 times on the way there. It was real fun to watch.

    That car is absolutely insane. (maybe the driver is too). Without a doubt, the fastest p*** in Yay- Hoo history and will most likely live forever.

    Congratulations Racer X on a bad *** Yay-Hoo victory and I hope the effects of drinking moonshine out of The Cup wear off after a while.

    So, how about a little detail on the engine and drivetrain?

  15. He's got a thread that may have some info but the gist of it is that its a hemi that runs on Gas on the street and Nitro on the track. There was a minor glitch with a broken fuel pump spud early in the day but @wrenchbender stepped in left the track and went home and welded it up. That is also part of Gr*** Roots Racing that people don't remember and something that the track at MoKan is known for, racers helping other racers. ;)

    @racer-x message me I think I may have some up with a solution for your weak link there.

  16. Hey '******... Sorry that I never was able to catch up to you at the LaQuinta or at MoKan. Maybe next year at Joplin or Dewey! I was there and here's a picture to prove it, kinda...

  22. LOL the stickers were pretty rad this year weren't they. :)

    The deal is that there is always a chance that you will be fact enough. It was a real **** shoot for a while if Racer-X was going to make a p*** he struggled with a broke part most of the day. You never really know anything can happen.

    One of the things that we are trying to work out is pairing contenders. I think it would be fun to run against someone you are racing to beat. It will take more cooperation from the racers than anything else but it could make it a bit more interesting.

    We appreciate you signing up year after year by the way.

    So, Lumpy, Flamedabone, Scoop, Roadsir and a couple other guys and I were hanging out in the Pete and Jakes parking lot friday about noon when this giagantic RUMP-RUMP-RUMP noise was heard and the green Chrysler comes into the lot with about 6 feet of chromed/polished hemi/blower/injection sticking up almost roof high and he's pulling a trailer with tools, slicks etc etc in it. Holy ****! It was Racer X on his way to MoKan from Lees Summit...driving his hemi coupe! Pulling a trailer! When he poured the nitro to it on Saturday afternoon, I was convinced it was the real deal. Drives it from Lees Summit, pulling a trailer and runs 8s.
    Good luck on the power cruise, man.

  25. thanks for all the nice comments guys. I feel honored to win the cup. I got the full story on the origins and history on the cup directly from ******. its very cool to be part of its history. as far as us returning to defend the cup we are officially one and done. I don't want others to be discouraged about participating. I feel very strongly about a hot rod that can street drive and race. that's were I came from its my roots. I have put a lot of time and energy into this car so I can do both. it would have been much easier to do one or the other. its also the reason I do drag week. unfortunately drag week has started to turn into a big money pro team type race in the unlimited cl***. I wouldn't want the cup to ever turn into a big money shootout were the chance of winning comes down to money. I want the spirit of the cup to remain as it is so that's why we wont compete again. I want everyone to have a turn getting on the cup. we will return to mokan but for cl*** racing or if someone wants to do a street car grudge race we could set that up.

  26. You are absolutely correct. You actually worked for the cup this year, I was close enough to watch all that work going on and glad it was you and not me.

    One of the things we are striving for is to keep the cup hot rodder friendly. It is a balancing act. I would hate to say to anyone that they cannot compete and we were sure proud to have you in the line up, but there has to be a happy medium and eventually we will find it.

    If it were not for the cost of traveling it would be fun to get you and @SamIyam hooked up as a sort of a side deal. I would not be opposed to putting a second plate on the cup for a match race one year. ;)

    All that said I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that we applaud your accomplishment.

    Just a question about the cup.
    Do you get on the cup if you are the quickest of year even if it slower than Brian's p***?

    Quickest of the year gets your name on the cup. Weather it's an 8 second p*** or a 19 second p***.
