COE COE Picture thread (imported from main board)

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Duration, Oct 30, 2007.

  1. I found a bunch of these Autocar spec sheets on Ebay and bought them. This one is the same model as mine, just one year newer. I doubt that the actual specs change much from 47 to 48, but the grille is slightly different.
Thought they might be interesting to some of us COE fans.

Not to get off topic but: I was a young 25 year old mechanical designer on contract at White Motors Corp in the Sheet Metal Cab Group at the engineering facility in Eastlake, Ohio back in the late 1970's. I did the pit fender design and****ociated mounting components etc. for the new wider cab Autocar Construktor 2 (see pic) to replace the 25 plus year old corporate cab.

I had access to the engineering vault and could have made prints of drawings of any truck in the archives dating back to the first ones. I DID NOT. I was a dumb****. Awe to be young and stupid again.

  10. I heard this bad boy got auctioned off right after its build for a ridiculously low price.

I would love to see a web page dedicated to the build, finish off and all around showcase with video (before & after of this truck. Unfortunately taking video probably wasn't thought of during the process.

This truly is the badest****ed C.O.E. I have ever seen.

I want to know more about this beast and the shop that built it.

    Thanks

  15. I talked to the original builder of this Acar way back about 15 years ago when it debuted in Knoxville. Cab was steel framed from the factory meaning it is a 50, 51 or 52, Owner was also there trying to say it was a 39, because he had a Navy data plate from 39, now this picture is captioned as a 36. Anyone want to go for 35? (my little pet peeve is people knowingly making believe a vehicle is older than can be documented)

  19. Nope, that is a real factory model called a Sightliner. The idea was excellent visibility when working in close quarters. Drivers hated them because you had to keep your boots shined all the time. LOL

  23. Nice set of spot-lights up front, the truck is nice too.
1955! Dang, she was born same year as me, but she's in much better shape than I am.

  24. Spotlights? I thought they were rubber baby buggy bumpers!

  25. Well, they could be rubber/silicone, but I'd mount them over my hood any day.
