A little tweak on this one too. Note the '60 Impala has no wheel covers and what might be a dealer's invoice in the window - did it fall off the car carrier?

    Hey Speed,
Back up a few decades ago and there was a local So Cal case where a kid started a caustic, trash can fire at a school. He was turned in by his friends for doing such a stupid thing. He was expelled and his parents were on the hook for the costs that ran up into the $20k bracket. Multiple Fire Depts, EMTs, hazard suits, outdoor shower/changing, shut down of school, chemical clean up, other damages, etc.

They should have been on the hook for the medical bills of the people that were affected by the caustic smoke...but, that is another story.

Since there is a witness to the Columbia River fire, someone will be given the bill, even if it means docking future work salary of the parents or teenagers, to pay for the past damages... earn $20 per hour, now it is $10 per hour, or such... legal stuff...

The first attached photo shows Hollywood stuntman Cliff Bergere talking to owner/mechanic Lou Moore in 1941. Bergere ended up finishing fifth and drove the entire 500 miles nonstop.

The second photo appears to be at Trenton in early 1965. Bobby Unser is up front in the roadster but I'm not sure who is in the second car. BTW, that's USAC's top tech official Frankie Del Roy with the clipboard on the right.

That's Art Malone behind Unser in the Harden #58, the old "Basement Bessie."

Not even counting the affect this will have on the NW tourist industry, very sad situation!

    Hey DDDenny,
We were planning on a road trip to the Northwest next August/Sept, but will probably go just to support the local economy. That area is too pristine to not try and support it... Probably one family won't make much of a difference, but others that love the area may also do the same... If we wait until the late fall months, that may help out, too. Off season touristy stuff always helps.

We have gone up there for different road trips since the 60's, more so than any other area in the USA. Relatives want us to come out to the Midwest and the western, national forest areas of the Appalachians, but for some reason, the northwest draws us back continuously.

Lots of non touristy things going on also Jnaki.
Believe it or not, here is an event nearly in my backyard (so to speak) that I have yet to attend, it would tie in perfectly with your 2018 plans for Aug./Sept.
It is about a half hour drive from Portland (Columbia river).
It would be cool to go up there with you and your wife, may help to get my wife to go as she has kind of tired of attending some car events.
