Thanks for the confirmation Dean. This is an extra special internet photo glean for me. Awesome photo. You all look great and What! a crowd...Goood on You. Dated ironclad 1963 wow I was barely off the rubber nipple.

 

Being short can in many ways be advantageous......Grumpy had a very good day and he got a pretty cool trophy from a pretty awesome Gal.

 

Did the same in '62,'65,'66, and '67. We won't mention '64.

Nope, don't have any of them. They sat in the rafters of my garage for 40 years. When we moved, two years ago, I went to get them down, and all but the little bit of metal on them turned to dust. I saved the plaques, swept up the remains and the pile went into the trash. Hopefully today's Wallys are made better.

 

I do have these though. Did this 4 times, but NHRA stopped giving record certs at the end of '63. Guess the paper we too expensive.

 

Geeze. I still have Fremont trophys that are OK. Except for the odd wheel that got broke off.

 

That's the human part of it...You had an anomaly...and you came back with force after and didn't look back. To bad about the trophies...that really sucks. Your still a winner in my books......no need for grumpy face.

 

This was posted sometime back and me thinks its time to say another Happy Camper again...
Anybody know about this Gal..Actress, Model, his girlfriend or is it your wife......just curious...

Rich, I have trophies from Pomona, San Gabe, Irwindale, LIONS, Fontana, and the March Meet. I have all my dads Bonneville and El Mirage trophies from the 60's. I have 1/4 midget trophies going back to 1955. They are all fine. The NHRA trophies were 80% plastic, and it just crumbled to dust. They could not have been restored to look anything like when I won them. My fault, I guess. I should have sealed them in some kind of plastic bags. Oh well, I have my scrap book.

 

I love the old school girls...

 

@Dean Lowe could you name those in the 1963 Winternationals picture I posted and who is the lovely lady presenting? I have PM'd you the photo. Did any of your crew become racers or Hotrodders? Just enjoying the spreading of the gospel so to speak....

 

Not a tattoo among them....I prefer it that way.
