I had the opportunity to buy a Hudson truck project recently, so I thought I would build a Smokey Hudson Truck to go along with my Doc Hudson Hornet. I hope to use some of the things I learned on the H.A.M.B. to get it back on the road.
I have all the sheet metal now, it came without bed, rear end, engine and trans, I have all those parts in the Chevy van donor sitting beside truck.
It is an International bed. Hudson was a large bed for that time period, International was very close, also came with some extra parts, like a handmade topper and a complete trailer frame
Subscribed. Looking forward to this. This seems like a walk in the park compared to the state of your Hornet when you first got it. That workmanship is epic and if you bring those skills to this project then it could be very nice indeed.
WoW ! They are rare enough to begin with ! Hope to see the finished product !! Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
Fabricated a spring hanger for the front of the leaf springs. also going to straighten the rear frame rail while I'm at it.
Did they ever do the Hudsons with dually wheels? Some big artillery wheels with dually truck tires would give it a cool industrial working man look whilst coupled in with the low roof and long lines would still be cool. Hudson pick up is definitely one of my top two fav pickups. (Diamond T 201 is the other)
I haven't seen any Hudson trucks with dual wheels, maybe the earlier Dover brand trucks made from the Essex car line in the thirties. Those long lines do look cool on these trucks. That Diamond T is a man's truck for sure.
I think that my fenders do lose a bit of the charm that I love on these trucks. I am looking for a parts car and planning on using the fenders from it on my truck also.
well if you happen to spot as you look for a parts car a 51 hornets LH fender rocket along with the full side trim for a four door 50/51 with pork chop etc let me know.
Gentleman is selling parts from this car, it has Commodore Emblems instead of Hornet. Looks like it may have all side trim and porkchops, I can find 51 fender Rockets, the side trim not so easy to find. Here is info from ad.......... From research done, i believe we have a 1951 hudson commodore-6 four door sedan! Many useable parts left, call or text for prices and if i still have them! Located in KANSAS!! Or sell complete for $1500 cash 620-38---two-68;;;;;04
There is one sitting just outside Hagerstown MD on 40 at an antique store. Sent from my SM-G935V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey thats great thanks for that. I have given him a call and with luck he will flick over some further info shortly. And if you do happen apon the other rocket then that would be awesome.
Hey Jeff. Check that a few times a day along with other searches. No 51 rockets only 52-53. Still waiting for the Kansas guy to email may give him another call tomorrow. Thanks man. Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Triman.
Alex, its cool by me, I like watching your 49 build. glad to help in anyway. I did see some 51 rockets in a parts lot on eBay, seller asking $900.00, a little overpriced. I'll keep looking also. Desert Valley auto parts is parting out four 51 Hudson. They have a nice webpage, here's the link. www.dvap.com
have tried them twice. once to the contact us email to what I got an auto reply then to the other yard that the reply indicated the Hudsons were located. still no reply. thanks for looking. great of you.
I posted your project over on the HAMB PhotoShop thread, and asked for R-series Stude rear fenders, plus wheels and tires. Moose did this for me. Enjoy!
A lil lower and it looks pretty cool. Edit: Finished in Black with Hudson Bed & fenders, visor and Hudson Hubcaps
