Technical Axle I'd help

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by jimmygrrr, Sep 16, 2017.

  1. I have this old drop axle that came on my model a and was wondering if anyone can help me ID it. It appears to be a 33-36 from what I can tell (more of a radius than defined I like 32). 33.8" between spring boss and they are 2". Has a 4.5" drop and looks like a hammer drop from the way it's all smashed up. Could this be a Dago? The ones I have seen look skinnier along the dropped areas.

  3. Model a is 2 1/4 spring perch bosses right? I've got 2" on this guys so I'm thinking 33-36. Any ideas about the drop? Yeah those are 42-48 spindles on there too

  4. Yip, I missed the boss size.;) JW

  5. To me the beam shape seems wider and more even thru the drop; than a dago or other similar hammer dropped axles. Kinda different looking axle.

It's definitely a hammer dropped type but it's the nicest one I've ever seen by far. What a treasure!

I hope you are going to put back in! And not swapnit for an aftermarket axle or an undropped 32
