Forgive my ignorance, but these are all sedans with the roofs cut off? Anyone have any build pics or pics of the bracing inside the body to keep them from folding in half. This is very interesting...

  11. The real tubs have wood around the perimeter and down the B pillar on the T's and A's the later tubs have a large casting that bolts thru the floor and frame that hangs the rear door hinges, most people that are cutting off a sedan use tubing around the perimeter and both early and late tubs have a metal bulkhead behind the front seat that ties the left and right door pillar together. Here's a pict of my tub support between the pillars.

IMG_0338.JPG Here what ties mine together, gives room for the seat. I love the long doors because it's easier to get in and out of than my 29 Roadster

  18. Thanks, what a great and last Valley Custom, I worked a block from their shop and this 40 Merc was out back in a chain link fence area in primer, I'd go up there and eat lunch and study this car thru the fence, probably mid to late 70's. thanks for the picts!

I`d take a 4-dr tub over a roadster anyday. I always thought they are classy. Plus, they make great customs. Scan0441.jpg

  23. I'm sure you know that the black tub above with the "Handler" license plate is the original Ray Vega 38.

A friend of mine had a 39 Convertible Sedan, a high point restored car.
I bet there's been a few that think they are "phantoms", very rare.
