The Reliability run on Friday is open to all pre 65 vehicles. It is a tour around the Colorado mountains. I had almost as much fun on this run as I did going up the hill. One thing is this the actual hill climb on Saturday isn't timed and it is just for fun recreating a race that happened in 1954. They do not hold hard and fast to requirements like the TROG guys do. If you have any questions about eligibility I would contact Nick's Garage. I have participated in the Hill climb the last two years and haven't has any problems. I run an alternator and a T-5 on a model A engine. Obvious later model engines wont fly. They usually announce dates for the next year at the LA roadster show. Hope this helps.

  4. Hey TTR - Nick here.. the orginzer/promoter. I would be honored to coordinate with you. Please contact me early so we can make sure we have all the logistics worked out. The event is themed, it is an early 1950's hot rod event, we don't mind if the car has a T5, 12v, electronic ignition, the goal is that it represents early 1950's hot rodding. We like Flathead V8's, Inlines (chevy, buick, plymouth, Ford 4 bangers, etc), I usually include some early Cadillac, Olds, hemi, OHV motors too, and I've also let in a few SBC's. It's about the cars and the people. We had one LS car this year, when I saw him at LARS, I told him if he made the trip from TX I'd let him run. He was a good show!

  5. @winduptoy What an AWESOME Thread!! Thank you Larry for all your support, you are a great friend to us, we sure appreciate you and your dear wife (who made the trek to Estes Park and back Sunday in the rumble seat). You guys RULE!

Also we would like to thank everyone that came to Central City to support/particpate/spectate the Hot Rod Hill Climb. We had the best year we have ever had, incredible cars, people from all over the country and world for that matter. Amy and I and our enter crew appreciate all of you. An extra thanks to those that support the event by registering your car, buy pit passes and buy our awesome Merch!

We heard "Best Event I've ever been to" several times.
.......I guess those people have never attended our Hot Rod Dirt Drags event !

    Cheers to all of you!
    -Nick & Amy

Nick, you, Amy, family and crew are Rock Stars!!!!! Where else can you run your car as hard as you want, drive anywhere on the road and have law enforcement smile and wave back at you? My wife looked forward to this with anticipation and we do again next year. I can't wait until Dirt Drags. Thanks for kind words,
    Larry

A wonderful compendium of all the HRHC people and stories with a lot of excellent pics to illustrate it all. Thanks Larry. It was great seeing you and Judy again.

  13. It was a fun event. I wasn't there for all of it since I was visiting friends but the venue and the show were great. We ran across some of the reliability run cars in our adventures on Friday then spent time at the hill climb on Saturday. I'm sure I'll be back, maybe even with a car in a couple/few years, I just need to, you know, build it... then haul it half way across the country... yeah, maybe in 2020...

Lots going on at this event. it's about doing, not sitting. I'm going to try to, right now I say "yes".

Mike I find it funny you thanking us. You , Amy, Troy, and all the people that work hard all year ( and there are a lot of people working long hours ) to make these events happen deserve all the thanks. So THANK YOU. Johnny and Lila.

  22. Does anyone know who was flying the drone around during the hillclimb and where one could find the video?

  23. I overheard that it was Piero but that I can't say for sure. He is the guy that makes the Mad Fabricators videos.

  24. I just confirmed. Look up Mad Fabricators Instagram acct. There are a couple of clips on there.

Sounds like you have a great attitude towards this, and from everything I've seen, you run a great event. I hope to make it out, maybe next year.

Yeah! Hey, I'm trying to stir up interest in a run out to Lake Elsinore next Saturday, the 30th, for a car cruise they have there. We'd be heading there from opposite sides of the Ortega Hwy, but it'd be cool to meet up with you there in Elsinore.

  29. Pufff,
Well I made it to the Hill Climb only to lose my Hyd. clutch as I pulled in to the hotel parking garage on Thursday night after attending the Delux speed shop party. I did spend Friday at the event and Sat. morning until around 11:30 then went back to the hotel to wait on my parts to arrive so I could repair my car. They were to get there around 1:30. Well they never came until 5:30 so I missed the whole after noon's events. But I did get the car patched together enough to make it back to Nebraska.
Sorry I never got to meet you as I was looking forward to meeting up with you. Guess I will have to wait until the dirt drags next June.
    See ya on the hamb.

Thanks for the great pics !
Man, What a trip to remember! Such a great event! Hats off to Nick & Amy and their crew! It was one of the best events we've been to! So we'll organized too!
It was a long trip for us from Buffalo NY, but we will be back! My newlywed wife and I had so much fun on our honeymoon with our "11B" 1931 Roadster! This was the debut of the car! Now I have the bug to hop it up more! So many cool bangers! We even won the "Bitchin' Banger" award! Didn't expect that!
Super Bummed we missed the reliability run... Got in late Thursday night and Just couldn't get the car to run right to dial it in Friday morning for the trip. Had lots of tuning to do, and fixings things that broke on the trailer! Haha Gives us a reason to come back! Was great meeting so many new people and HAMBer's!
    IMG_20170916_181145435.jpg

And just a few pics I snapped along the trip... Will post more from my actual camera eventually...
