  1. Don't mean to start a rumour...and I don't need to talk with him or anything...but he has more than 18,000 posts and it occured to me that I haven't seen anything from him in awhile. He hasn't been on the hamb since March 2017.

    Is he ok?

Chatted with him in person last summer at Deuce Days in Victoria. Nice guy.

  2. He got himself banned. HRP

I thought I came across a thread he'd was involved in, pretty sure the "banned" was gone from under his name?

Do a search for posts by falcongeorge and his posts will show up. Also doesn't indicate that he's banned. Must have just decided to move on.

He got a Prius. He's PriusGeorge now.

Just kidding. He began answering my tech questions with PMs, tired of on board arguments. Much appreciated, smart guy.

I knew he had been banned but was looking for a thread by someone else the other day to answer a question on a totally different forum am on and found that that person's profile had been deleted. When you are gone from here you are really gone.

Some of us joked about George threatening to quit all the time awhile ago. Now it's not so funny. I kinda miss him now.

Yeah, very tech savvy guy. But also opinionated, which is not a crime, and didn't have a lot of time for posers. He lives about three miles as the crow flies from me and I never even got his address. I may be able to find him based on PMs we had. Is being banned for life? Are there instances of parole?

I once joked that he had added himself to his own ignore list :D
His attitude was tiresome at times.

  17. Yea- Geo knows his stuff! I think he got tired of some of the BS ,silly Q's going on, but, if you knew what you were asking, he was a very helpful guy. He is surely missed, at least by me for his knowledge, and if it didn't pertain to me, at least I learned something new. Opinionated= sure. But, learning sometimes is a tough curve, and not everyone is receptive to the real world vs what they want to hear......I wish him well....

Live by the sword and die by the sword. I tried to meet up with him once several years ago but he was not interested.
In my humble view he posted way too much and copped the flack when it came back at him and he did not like it.
Smart guy, maybe too smart for his own good...

I learned a lot from him. Didn't always agree, but I could tell where he was coming from.
Did the HAMB change how people are banned? He still shows as a member in thread posts. Banned users used to say Banned under their name in posts.

Yep, it's a sure way to get yourself promoted to lurker status. San Diego Highwayman and a few others were choreographed through the same door.
A friend who used to bounce at a local Nightclub told me; "without solid ground rules and control, this place would quickly turn into nothing but an indoor riot".

I'm also one who had a reasonably civil pm exchange session with him when he contacted me to express his opinion on my project.

Then just once I attempted to throw a small barb of humor in his direction and it was like WW 3 had broken out.

I suggested that it might be time for him to share something of any project of his own that was HAMB friendly.

I was less than happy with his response.
He can dish it out but.......

That's why that along with the attitude and rants he displayed I can say I don't miss him.

Well, you know it's funny. I got banned from a site for a week for something I thought, and intended to be, light banter. I decided I wasn't going back, even when I could have. As far as I know, the other fellow involved hasn't returned either. Sometimes one's opinion differs from the moderators;you are not going to win, so if you can't live there, it is time to move on. Odd thing is, I used to spend hours there.I have looked periodically but it doesn't appeal to me any more at all. Maybe that is what happend to George

Not so much except that he was blunt and Ryan chooses not to discuss it further-which is his choice, of course, and moves us on. Time was 10 people would torch you for anything off-course-for heaven's sake, people used to have to type b*ll*t the same way you'd type fine old Anglo-Saxon words. But times change. I expect we'll all move on from this pretty soon.

George and I didn't always agree on what is HAMB "traditional" vs what I view as the practices of the 50s that should be the traditions of today.
But I respect his knowledge of what works and what doesn't and miss his input.

I like George, he's a smart guy with a lot of information. I'm sorry to not see him around here, the place lost a good resource for technical information, as well as hot rod history. He and I didn't always see eye to eye, but I didn't get butt hurt when he put me in my place, I either took it and learned from it, or I gave it back. In any case, I miss him.
