Vintage shots from days gone by!

For many years the GM South Plant in Oshawa, Ontario produced GMC pickups, one of the most acclaimed and productive plants in the GM empire. I was shut down during the reorganization when Barak Obama saved the company. Canadian Pontiacs always had GMC 6-cylinder engines as an option, until the "modern era." My neighbor pulled a house trailer to the West Coast and back with a '61 Parisienne equipped with the big six, which had plenty of torque.

 

My brother got a speeding ticket for going 1 MPH over the 20 MPH speed limit on this very street. Jacksonville, Oregon where they shot "Paint your Wagon".

 

The black and red roadsters were regulars at Pomona drags. I watched them many times. They were raced a lot.
