  3. Must be some more progress to report. Started the drive shaft yet? Mine is back to a rolling chassis now. JW

Yikes, I'm long over due for an update. Yes, we have progress!

Jeremy, driveshaft is done just needs paint.

Steering column is in and wiring to it done...

Small victories count, right? Finding a radiator hose was a huge pain. I ordered a Dayco 71380 and chopped it up a bit. I'll put a piece of 1 1/2" tubing in between these two.

Other than that, I've just been tying up loose ends so it doesn't really look any different.

Sorry for the delays, middle of the elk hunt right now, plus work has been super busy.

Fishing headlight and blinker wires through the frame rails now. Old speedometer cables work GREAT for this! [IMG]

Note to self: lower radiator hose is Car Quest Green Stripe 82008GL with 1/2" removed from each end. [IMG]

Ugh, guess I'll have to take pics first then upload them later. Taking them within the app doesn't rotate them correctly.

  8. Great to see progress, Eric. That drive shaft looks good as does all the other bits and bobs. Very cool. JW

a straight forward t stat housing would make that top hose look a ton better

Totally agree. I tried three different ones and because the vintage Offy intake and Rochester fuel bowl are SO close I couldn't find another option.

I even tried on of those rotating ones.

We've discussed it at length. Bob despises welding anything cast. This one has the temp sender built in so it works, as the intake and block done have provisions for it.

Back at Bob's this afternoon. Driveshaft painted and in... still not done with wiring but I'm getting close.

Now I remember the debacle with the thermostat. I needed one with the thermostat boss and went through several before settling on this one. Doesn't look like it, but I can slide a piece of paper through that gap, LOL.

Also have the 1 1/2" pipe cut and installed, but it'll get painted before the clamps go on.

  18. Great progress, Eric. You have a lot of wires under there and glad you are painting that pipe. At this rate you may just beat me to having a driver as I hope to mate body with the chassis by the end of the month. JW

Yeah, that's a TON of wire but it'll all dress up nicely. That's the trouble with mounting the fuse panel in the trunk, lots of wires to hide.

just a thought for in the future you could run a 1/4" carb spacer to get the t stat housing you want

good to hear you dont want to get your temp reading from that side of the t stat either if the stat sticks you gauge wont show hot

  25. The sender will still read if it does stick as the heat will still transfer as its not being cooled. JW

on that side if its stuck shut it wont be the right temp cuz water is not flowing by the sender

  27. It is still encased in coolant and the valve of the thermostat will not stop the heat from the other side from transferring I/2 an inch to the temp unit. If you could measure any difference in heat it would not be worth recording. If it was on the motor side and the stat stuck shut it still wouldn't have water ''flowing'' past it as the coolant will be stationary. JW

  28. I always drill a 3/16 hole in my t stats . A little circulation . Carb spacer is one thing I would definitely use . Helps with all this ethanol fuel ,176 f boiling point I’ve been told . Looking great Mr. O . Be in Vegas for SEMA if your going . Maybe I could finally meet you . Blue

  29. I agree with the hole in the stat, I do it to all mine. It also helps to get air out when changing the coolant. Took me awhile to figure who ''Mr O'' was, to me its ''Mr H'' !! and yeah he is worth meeting.:cool: :D JW
