A few years back in R&C he did a drawing of a 27 ford made to look like a Bugatti racer with French national blue paint, it was bad ass. I used to have the magazine, but it got lost, if anybody has that, I'd love to get a copy.

  9. a long time ago in a place far away, actually it was 1993 in Paso Robles Calif. (now it's just Paso) I was talking to Steve about some of his art, I had a super secret project going that I didn't want to bring it up. two weeks later back in Portland I get the new issue of Rod & Custom and there is a Steve Stanford Drawing of a 48 ford three window coupe. I was 7 months into my 48 ford three window coupe project, I kicked my self in the ass for not bringing it up and maybe getting some advice from the master.also felt that everyone would think I took Steve's Idea and to build my car. so I sent a photo and a note and it was in the Rappin column. 13 years later (Steve broke my heart haha) it's still in the shop (going to be on the road this year for sure!!)
as a past post I can not tell you how many people that I've talked to around the country in the last decade that saw that little photo in the Rappin column

  10. There was a big writeup of him in one of The Rodders Journal's quite a few years ago now. I don't remember what number it was though.

Yeah.....ok Jimbob. Heard this before. Lessee it this year.
Steve Stanford has untold talent. I attempt to sketch out all my cars before I begin to build 'em but da-yam! Steve's renderings look like photographs! And mine look like stick-figure drawings..

  15. TRJ # 25 has his stuff in it.

I remember back about the 1st or 2nd Car Craft Street Machine Nats., in '82. was here in town, he done the design and I think even the paint on the giveaway new body 4th gen. Camaro, it was in the showroom of the local Chevy dealer the week prior to it. That paint blew me away, I had just started painting about 2 years before, it was the one that inspired me to try all the custom fine line multi-color striping. :) He's awesome alright.

I don't think so, but I'd sure buy a copy if there was.

  19. Steve is also an unbelievable airbrush artist. Back in the early 90's when he had his studio in Ventura I had him paint the front bumper on a customers car. I came out pretty cool............

NO matter what you can think up...someone, somewhere has already done it...or is doing it...there is nothing new under the sun.

Met Steve at a custom show,I had one of my OLD photo
albums with me that I showed him.He would study every
photo before turning to the next page.He really enjoyed
the old 50s kustoms. Steve is a very easy person to talk
    with.

A real '36 roadster, presumably based on this drawing, is in the current issue of TRJ. I had never seen this drawing, and was really impressed by the fresh and innovative look of this car. Who woulda thought a near-stock-height '36 with Pines trim could look so good?

Aaahh, but if it's Steve's design, no wonder.

  30. Steve is a great guy.I tag teamed with him on a trophy that Joe Bailon was giving away.Joe gave a candy apple trophy away at a show and Steve did the lettering and I pinstriped it.We goofed off and talked for three days at the show.It was like I knew him all my life.He is a very talented ,nice man.
