    Hello,
My dad was a die hard, Buick fanatic since his first, 1941 Buick Coupe. As it was his thing to do, save money for several years and then buy a new model that he liked. In the line of succession, it was the 41 coupe, then the huge 49 Buick Roadmaster 4 door, which lead up to his own, new 1952 Buick 4 door sedan.

My brother and I loved riding in that big, black, 49 Buick Roadmaster. There was so much room in that car, everywhere. For us, it was like riding around in a big battleship.

But, I am sure that my mother convinced my dad to buy another car, since she did not like that 49 black Buick. Why? She told us that every time we all rode in the car, it was like driving in a "funeral" car, (big, black, 4 door) with room for lots of people going to you know where. She was superstitious and wanted a different car for the family.

So, my dad drives home one day with a dark blue bottom and white top 52 Buick sedan, much to the happiness of my mom. It was also a big car, but for us, nothing was as big as that 49 Roadmaster. This new 52 Buick was used for driving trips all over California on vacations and one foray into Mexico, where we got stuck in a barren, roadside ravine 150 miles south of Ensenada. What lengths my dad went to go to secret fishing spots... this experience took the cake.

For us two boys in the back seat, it was pleasurable to eat, sleep, play games, and fight. My dad just drove the pants off of this huge, great driving sedan until 1957, when he bought another dark blue 2 door Buick Roadmaster. One more car in a long line (5 more Buicks until 84) of playing out his Buick ownership dreams.
