does anyone know if this 47 merc cab coud be close enough to build a 40 pick up with? have a frame motor tranny reare nd and some front sheet metal already. will need hood and grille if it would work?
Actually, they are the same cab from 40 to 47 with some differences. Fender mounting holes in cowl are different for example, and the 47 cab will have the gas tank inside the cab under the seat instead of at the rear of the frame. It can be made to work. I am building a 41 ford 1/2 ton with a 47 cab from a two ton truck.
The main problem will be the ‘42 thru ‘47 truck frame is quite different. Much easier if you acquire ‘35 thru ‘40 passenger or ‘35 thru ‘41 pickup chassis. Ray
I plan to use the 42-47 frame with a transverse spring in the front to get that old timey hotrod bounce when going down the street.
I am in merritt bc. I do have a 39 car frame and am looking at getting this cab. I am interested in a hood. I have family in Calgary area
