Reminds me of taking trips in my old 56 Ford. I carried a case of oil in the trunk anytime I went out of town, and usually used it all.
Glad it turned out ok. Thanks for the story.

Thanks for bringing us along for the ride. My wife and I did a Virginia to So Cal run in 1968 with a tired '56 Chevy (back in the days I was in the Army) and only took a case and a half of oil. The memories are priceless.

I went to Tampa the day after Thanksgiving last year ,spent some time with a friend and drove a new ot vehicle home to Iowa. It was a great trip just don't eat off the roller grills in the truck stops, it makes for a lot of potty stops, great story thanks for sharing.

I have a 46 and the oil and temp gauge do not work very well. I installed a set of period correct SW gauges under the dash that tell the true story. Besides that, 48-earlier flatheads do not have a ton of oil pressure. It may be just me, but as long as it has pressure and sounds good, it should be good to go. Someday....someday I will do a trip like yours :)

Glad that you both made it and your dog looks like she approves. You will never forget the adventure and have made a few friends along your journey. Think of the roll back driver, when was the last time he loaded and hauled a 40's vehicle in his career?

    warhorse,

The roll back driver was a really nice guy and he had some nice compliments about the coupe. I should have asked im what the oldest car was that he has ever had to haul.
