So let me get this straight - I can use my rumble lid of coarse, but can use a different hinge? Does your dad know what the hinge looks like for the non rumble seat version? I enclosed the hinges for the rumble seat. So far, did a quick search for non rumble seat hinges and came up short. Will look into this deeper. Appreciate any info! 31 Chevy rumble seat hinge bracket set.jpg 31 chevy rumble seat hinge set.jpg

I know someone with some '34 std. trunk hinges that should work on '31-32, and may be the same, even. I can check and see what he wants for'em, if you'd like.

they are called Viking . they were on 29-31 chevys. I would sell one for 225.00 or 400.00 for both

  13. here is an example of the steel i ran on the back side of the wood. i welded nuts or tapped the holes where needed. this allowed me to replace the wood screws with bolts so there is less of a chance of loosening up. DSCF3611.JPG

www.iandireproductions.com in California ran off a bunch of them. they might have some left around $80 I think. Plus the striker for 34-35 chev coupes...or the one wood remover has with handle and key ??

Seller AMMUSCLE on ebay based in ohio I think has these also. I got one 4 months ago.

LOOKED IN MY 1929---1935 CHEVROLET PARTS BOOK AND THE PART NUMBER 4017726 WOULD BE FOR 1931 1932 TRUNK LID hinges, see the picture. they appear to be similar to the ones I bought for my roadster last weekend.

Also keep in mind when converting from rumble seat to trunk, that the troughs on the sides only go down about 2/3 of the way, so if you find a coupe to take them out if you will have to make them other wise your trunk floor will quickly fill up with water and make a big mess !!!!. plus you will also need one to go across the bottom of trunk opening.

so do I, but I start out with 1934 Chevrolet parts go thru newest listings and then thru 1935 listings.........the 34-35 chev std series is same car except for the frame. I go over to 33 Chevrolet also incase the seller isn't sure what they really have for auction.

The rear end width looks fine. Figure out what BACK SPACING you need on the wheel to make it work. Probably 7" wide max wheel with only 3" allowed or less as B S. . Will plunk a 65 series or 60 series tire right under the fender .

  26. and the only pics of my 32 i have that are not on stupid photobucket....

It's going to be full fendered, been in my family since '58. I'm the third generation working on it. Been collection parts for years, spent 18 years of begging my dad to sell it to me. It's been off the road since 67-68 i believe vette driver front.jpg vette driver rear.jpg

Your well on your way - what else do you need to finish her? Do you have a fuel tank apron for your '32? I have one that I won't need anymore and supposedly is the SAME for your hot rod.

after finding the rumble seat floor pan looking like a swiss cheese slice, I went to metal mart a local company and bought the 18 guage and had them bend the rising ends 10 degrees. They also bent some side pieces 90 degrees.

A spot was picked on the only salvageable part and we zip cut it across and MIG'd the panel to it. From there we welded the 90 degree pieces to the sides and ground the excess away. The rumble seat floor is much deeper to accommodate feet than a regular trunk floor. I could have cut the foot separator metal out of the original and welded it into the new one, but thought NO, not really needed.

I took all the stamped stiffener ribs and welded up the factory spot weld holes and made paired holes to use 10/32 button head allen heads to hold them to the panel. Before starting to prep the panel for priming I had it sand blasted and wiped with silicone wax and grease remover.

Really nice fab work on the rumble floor pan Mike! I suppose the hump is for clearance on the rear differential? Reminds me when I had someone fabricate my steel floors, as no one reproduced them some 20+ years ago. Had to give him my rusted out floors to make new ones out of thick steel, not worrying about them again!
