Yes, Jim, that Agabashian in (I believe) one of George Bignotti's midgets. Agabashian is responsible for finally getting Bignotti to Indianapolis to be part of his crew in 1954.

And that's Bill Schindler in the Auto Shippers car in the 1950 500 after having mechanical problems.

And Rootie can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's Slim Roberts in Vince Conze's Championship car at Pikes Peak in about 1962. Conze and his brother are real unsung behind the scenes racing geniuses who designed and made parts for just about everyone in racing at one point or another. Frank Kurtis used Conze running gear, brakes, hubs, etc. almost exclusively on most of his cars unless a customer specified otherwise.

That's Bill Schindler in the #67 car after dropping out at Indy 1950. Jimmy Sharp at Legion Ascot in the early 30s. Louis Unser and Vince Conze at Pikes Peak, early 60s and Harold Leep in Chet Wilson's Offy Killer.

Wow. I didn't even know that Unser had ever driven for Conze at Pikes Peak.
    Thanks, Rootie!

when I worked for an AMC dealership (early 70's) we actually used the "bottle" as we called it...most memorable was a matador coupe w/ 304 2bbl......ran several tests, averaged 21 mpg (so much for the customer's "gas hog" complaint) and at one point, using all my mobilgas economy run tactics,i actually got 32 mpg,no cheats, flat level roads......so it was a valid test and also a warrantable "charge"...... and them ramblers really sipped the fuel.......!!!

I keep looking at this photo. I believe this is Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, CA. Union Station in downtown L.A. was the terminus for three railroads, the Southern Pacific, Union Pacific and the Santa Fe. The first stop after leaving Union Station for the Santa Fe passenger trains was Pasadena. This train would have just cleared the station in Pasadena, assuming we are looking east on Colorado. If we are looking west, the train would be pulling in to the Pasadena station...

Fun factoid - all those curves on the nose around the headlight and number boards on the locomotive? Bondo - GM's Electro-Motive Div. didn't quite sell enough 'F' units per year to justify the cost of investing in stamped dies, so the base sheet metal was shaped by hand and the flowing curves filled in with heavy coats of Bondo, making it the first large-scale industrial use of the product. GM's Automotive Div. quickly took note of the new 'miracle' filler and the rest is history...

And it looks like a Willys truck parked next to a Willys wagon in the background.
