Found these the same weekend I picked up my '51... from an entirely different person. These are inverted and color corrected images from old 120 film negatives. I'll add car pics to this as I get more of these negatives cleaned up and photographed.

These were in the trash pile at an estate sale in Texas, I bought the box that wasn't water damaged and crusty. Based on some of the photos and what was left of his belongings, this guy served in Korea either fresh out of highschool, or went halfway through. I also have his wife's dayplanner from 50-53 that talks about him picking her up and going to local dances, or out for rides... or even driving into Austin to hit up the old department stores we had (that Elgin, Tx still doesn't have). I ***ume they dated in highschool, and whenever he was on leave or discharged, not too sure.

Pretty sure the white/black rag top is a '49 Olds. Not sure about the hard top (Plymouth?). More to come...

I see a '50 Chevy styleline, a '51 or '52 styleline chasing a '51 Ford Custom, and a '48 Ford. What car is the girl posing inside of??

Edit* also a korean era m45(55) anti aircraft gun.

Neat find and good save! My Dad served in Korea straight out of High School. My Parents were same age group as the folks in the pics at that time.
I think it's sad when old family photos are unceremoniously dumped in the trash. I always wonder what prompted the decision. Bad blood? Family line came to an end?

I'm not sure what happened. I haven't seen any baby pictures or anything... just a photo of a dog. The people doing the estate sale didn't seem to care about any of the stuff there.

Cool pics! My family and I have worked lots of estate sales and house clean outs. It’s always the same thing lately. The surviving family doesn’t live in town and couldn’t care less about old books, pics, toys or childhood drawings. They are looking for money. That’s it. They throw stuff in a pile and tell us to pitch it. I recently got a nearly a whole house and two car garage filled with tri five Chevy parts that way. I came to the cleanout house to find barrels lining the driveway filled with chrome trim, bags and boxes filled with parts. The family tried cleaning and got tired and left. I cleaned out the rafters and garage cabinets to find a treasure trove of NOS and a huge collection of take off parts. It was crazy. I sold most of it and made quite a bit. The family was whipping all of it in the trash! This new generation just doesn’t seem to care about anything but money.

I do have this pic hanging in my office. I pulled it from the trash at an estate sale. I have no idea about the car or driver. He looks like a proud owner for sure!!! [IMG]

My kids have little interest in my "old stuff", I took several items to a museum, I imagine they may go through the pictures after I go to room temperature, guess I should digitize them and email them to all of the kids:) My aunt p***ed a way a few years ago and my cousin gave me several boxes of "stuff" he didn't want to go through, I've went through and found interesting stuff of both her's and from my grandmother. Lots of history is lost on a daily basis.

Thats why the pictures are so important...it captures time...the good times...the peak of our prime. Nothing against Grandma but behind every old person there was a vibrancy that has come and gone not that we don't feel young inside. It is always refreshing to revisit the past through images and stories like this.

    Bring em on...

Our kids are in their mid 30s. They don't have photo albums except for what's on their 'phones. If they need to fit more in they just delete. They think me and the missus are weird because we get photos printed and put them in hard cover albums. We still enjoy dragging them out for a trip down memory lane. They have already told us when we cark it, they will toss them in the bin.

A few of those are reversed, but in some cases it's no surprise that wasn't noticed...;)
