OH YA THATS A BEAUTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIKIE LIKES IT. I can see this as a hi boy style on custom 2 x 3 tube frame . Or a same year chevy chassis with leafs all around, stock or quarter elliptic style. big wire wheels 18 " from 32 era.

What really caught my attention and I saved the 2 pics is the firewall, I love that look and I have been trying to figure out how to duplicate it on a 34-35 chevy firewall in 1/4" thick aluminum sheet milled pattern out. To get that nice sunburst pattern is difficult on the 34-35 because the area above the distributor doesn't have a lot of room to play with.

I have already made one for the roadster pictures to follow and took the made one back to the water jet cutters and had them cut me out another one for the phaeton which has a polished stainless firewall really not fond of. The one in the pictures milled out has been powder coated semi gloss black with gloss black parts for brakes and clutch for the roadster. I think I posted pictures of that black on, on this site. If not will dig out camera and take a new one

Guess I better see if I can rustle up a roll of 1/2" wide tape to start making attempts at making the vision as shown on sixballs firewall.

Not sure why anyone would have tension on this site. This is the one place I come to see things that keep me moving forward and motivated. Every single post gives me some little bit of knowledge for my build and I look forward to every picture you guys post. Even a little detail on how someone else did something might be the one thing I hadn't thought of. So with that said hope everyone continues to be friendly and keep posting and enjoying the hobby we love.

well, I responded about the autowood situation and tell you exactly whats been happening for the last couple of years with this seller and WHY you cannot reach him regularly and U tell me I am jabbing at you . You will know when I am jabbing at somebody, it gets ugly .

On the vcca chat website this is common information , its not CNN FAKE NEWS. I posted on that to possibly save you and others here and warn you about possible long delays in getting your order filled. Please excuse me for trying to help you and anybody else.

I will no longer respond to any posts you make, that should make you happy. ????????

There ya go , U have a nice day :D

OH while we are at it, does anybody else think I am jabbing at them......?

Somewhere along these lines. I really like the 87B version of the Spurgin/Giovanine roadster. I'm not trying to copy anything just build the car I might have built in the early 60s if it had not gotten away from me.

I like your ideas and the spurgin / gioanvine racer look. The closed in drivers area looks neat. Are you planning or is it required to have a windshield if you want to plate the car .
The split windshield layed back looks very cool, appeals to me . Suits the style.
Rustle up a small band saw and hand belt sander and your off making wood parts.

It will have a windshield . I like the laid back look. It will eventually have a top if I live long enough. I just added a link to my not getting built site.
HI Tom! I'm still trying to get going. Sold my Bobcat today, one less endless project in the way.

Joseph, that nail head will look DYNAMITE in your rod - always digged the great look of those engines. I don't remember seeing any photos as of yet. Your finned drums also caught my attention as I'm planning to run polished So-Cal Buick finned drums on all corners on mine. Chassis is coming along just fine too.

Thank you, I’m working on the rear cross member right now for shocks and the fuel line.. my motor is still being build by a retired Buick guy, it’s a 57 364, putting 401 cam in it and 4 carb set up , I’ll be posting Pics when I get in the frame . Got to get on the body work, running out of things to do, what’s your opinion on wheel size ???

Depends on what type of tires you'll be running. Give her that classic hot rod rake and you're in! I just need to point out that if you're running those Buick finned drums also on the front end, it's tricky to get the right look with the back spacing. I'm finding this out myself on wheel choice for my own. I never cared for some guys running the Buick finned drums on a skinny wheel or as some say, "pizza cutters" up front when the drums stick much too far out from the rim. To me, they look proper when they stick out from the tire about two inches or so. It's your call of coarse. Either way, you'll know what looks good. What style of rim are you going towards?

I’m not Sure I understand the Buick finned drums, I’m running a S10 rear ended. I have 2 1/2 in spacers in right now there to big , so i ordered inch and half , thinking of going with smoothie rims 15 in, maybe 70 s in the back and 60s on the front ? Just have to make sure they clear the disc brakes in the front ?

for spacing the rear end to the frame, you need to know what the back spacing is on the wheels in order to clear the frame. You also need to take into account if the body wheel housing quarter panels extend over the frame like your chevy does about 3/4" ---1" ??
I believe the most common wheel backspacing is 3" .

The ideal width for 34-35 chevys is 56" and up to 4" back spacing can be used to tuck tires under the fender. What I see in the picture with rear end installed is way too wide to have wheel tires sit under the fender

Yes it is, I ordered 2 1/2 spacers, with the rims I got with the car, it’s two inches to wide, so I reordered 1 1/2 spacers, I’m wanting to get just plain flat black smoothies for it, I think the back spacing is 3 1/2 on those , so I’m hoping I’m close ...
If not I’ll just own all the spacers I guess[emoji849]
Was going to go with 15 rims all around with 70 in the rear and 60 in the front.

ON THE FRONT OF MY COUPE I USED TO RUN 15 X 6 GM RALLEY WHEELS WITH 4" BACKSPACING AND TIRES ARE 185-60-15

I replaced those with Dayton wires that are 15 x 5 with 2" BS and rears are 15 x 8 Dayton with 4 1/8 BS

REARS ARE ALSO SAME SIZE 15 X 6 WITH 4" BACK SPACING RALLEY WHEELS AND TIRES Are 235 x 75 x 15. Need the height at 28"
works with front and rear widths I am running.

my phaeton has 165 x 80 x 15 tires on front and 225 x 70 x 15 on back, NOT SURE ON THE BACK SPACINGS

My mistake Joseph, I saw the fins on your drums, thinking they were classic Buick. Wouldn't recognize S10 rears. Smoothie wheels would make a great 50's style - are you thinking trim rings and center caps? Chassis Done.jpg

I went with the S10 rear because of width for a wider tire fender wells are 11 inches so should be able to stuff a 10 inch wide tire in there

Whatever you decide will look great - can't wait to see that 'ol nailhead!
A wider tire is always a great look - speaking of tires, are you going pie-cut bias ply, or radials, whitewalls, blackwall, etc. or you haven't decided yet?
