I'm still trying to figure out the path of the intake from those carbonators up and down and thru the DOHC head.

It doesn't look like the rear spring needs shocks, either.

If you go to the main page, all the way to the bottom under the "To The Editors" section, there is a "tutorials" link that should have the info your looking for.

I raced stock cars early 1960s,so had QC's around an used in racecar, but never thought it was a good idea on the street, tooo much sound of too many turning gears. Never have seen the point on the street. Makes great gearing on the track though.

For me the point of having it on the street is so that around town where I do most of my driving I can have gears like the 4.11's in it now,
then when I want to get out of town, in about five minutes I can have highway gears in, like 3.05's, and keep up with traffic without over revving the old motor.
The noise from the Rodsville Halibrand V8 style is not loud at all
and I think it adds to the overall "hot rod" look

I have a call into Winters Performance but ill ask here as well (this is where all the smart kids hang out). While I was painting my axle tubes the other night I noticed I don't have a vent. That can't be right.

Is that a vent? I have a threaded plug up there.

We had something that looked like that on our 9-inch at Bonneville. I'd guess that it was a factory vent. After every run, the rear of our roadster was coated with grease. We ran a rubber tube up into the top of the rear deck and affixed a small K&N filter to it. Problem solved. I guess the grease would get all up to the filter and not go thru it and eventually run back down. Never made a mess.

That's a Mopar rear axle vent adapted to a reducing bushing that I made to replace the fill plug.
I'm hoping that it will vent without leaking oil. I think it should work fine.

Ideally, the vent would be on the side bell to avoid having the ring gear throw axle grease at it.
I have seen them vented just about everywhere, including the main case, change gear cavity, and axle tubes. Occasionally more than one. It doesn't take much, but as Stan Back said, a long tube with a filter at the end seems to always work.

On race cars we use the tube with a funnel at the end. This makes refilling after a gear change easy peasey. A filter cloth (rag) in the funnel keeps the skutz and fugs out! :D

K&N makes these neat little filters, this is my fuel tank vent filter.

Anyone use one of these? Completely closed, so no fluid loss, but still allows pressure to vary in the rear end.

Great idea, you could mount it inside the trunk and run a flex line to it. Could be a clean install!!

My little haul from yesterday. Been wanting a 201 for my roadster project since day one and glad to have gotten an affordable start on one. I got a big box of gears and parts with these, but was curious if the QC gears are interchangeable (or what parts in general are) between the 301 and 201's? I plan to keep at the least the 201 and might save one of the 301's and sell one on, but don't want to shoot myself in the foot by selling something I may need.

Virtually nothing from the 301 will fit a 201.

I'd like to see the axle tube adapter on that 301 a little closer. I knew that these existed but have never had one.

    Looks like good stuff.
