After winning most of the biggest events in drag racing, the theme of "The big... go bigger” rang true. Chet Herbert and Lefty Mudersbach wanted to go much bigger, with more power in the top dragster class. This quest for speed (NEED FOR SPEED) ended up as a 3 motor version with all wheel drive.

It was not long after my filming of the twin at Lions Dragstrip and the "for sale" AD that the twin went on sale. The new race car was powerful and ahead of its time, but not as successful as the original twin SBC dragster.

Such innovations drag racing history came to an sudden end with an accident at the drags for Lefty Mudersbach in 1966.

 

Riding and tinkering on motorcycles in late 60's, Metric wrenches were available from Sears etal, my biggest problem was finding 'Witworth' to work on Trumps and BSA's.

This rail has a Aussie 186 cubic inch Holden motor with after market fuel injection possibly McGee, which was very popular here. The location is Castlereagh drag strip in western Sydney.

 

Anybody got a clue how that rear tire didn’t hit upper wheel as it grew going down track?

This is a straight-six pushrod engine, not OHC, you can see a camshaft cover low down on the left.
Very similar to the 2.6 litre Ford engine fitted in my 1964 Reliant Sabre Six (see my avatar). I'd post a picture of mine but although the car is in-period the photo would be too recent for this thread (unless the moderator gives me the OK).

 

I think this has been shown before. Aussie showcar from the 60's. Buhagiar/Azzopardi 32 roadster.

Looks like it's a Chev 6 to me by the thermostat housing and water pump mount holes. Style use in 62 Chevy2's and everything in 63up. GM could have share with other countries for all I know. The single loop cage is about that era. Homemade injectors were common and a single fuel rail. I'd like to see the barrel valve system and fuel pump.
