About my electricity, and dash, I decided to keep the originals gauges (and restoring them), so for the water temp and fuel, I bought two voltage converters.....

The floor is close, installed rubber seals, and cleaned the mess.
Before cutting the new carpet, I wanna try with the old one...

I need to adapt again my old modifications.....the console need work, but for the first time, It's a pleasure to seat down correctly in the car, and put my right hand on the shifter knob, it's a new sensation, and it's cool:).
This picture is just a test, and I wanna change the steering wheel, so I must check my new driving position.....The white upholstery is dirty by manipulation ... it needs a good cleaning

It's gone from a Kustom from Outer Space to a Hot Rod Kustom from Outer Space. Looking good man. Bordeaux now, champagne when finished. Be safe.

Hello Woogeroo, in fact, I'm in big brain storming about the steering wheel. From 2 days, I'm check on the web, try to find something cool, well, a lot of research....but I don't know what can I use.

First, the car will be in 2 tones colors, orange for the body, and deep red/copper/brown candy (maybe flakes....) for the roof and the top of the doors based on TheMoose photoshop:

Secondly, i want to keep the vintage look of the car (actually, too much 80's custom car....), with Firestone Deluxe Champion Whitewall 500/525-16 (I'm looking for a used pair in good condition, if someone want to sell, ask me in private;)), Lyon Wheel covers, and more.......

So, my actual steering wheel is not in good condition, little cracks appears again, it is too thin, slips hands, too big diameter (17,5") with the top chop, I don't want it anymore.

About color, I think "White" is the better choice with my interior (I keep the white), about the diameter 13,5"/14"/15".
It must be flat (like corvette C1), not something like "big tulip depth" (sorry for the language, I try to translate, but I don't know the correct word....).

And the problem is that the axle of the first Fregate generation is unique (conical lug), I must destroy my steering wheel to keep and adapt the hub to the futur steering wheel (weld, drill, ......).......

So....leather, billet, chrome, cheap........I have check Nardi/Lecara/Moto-lita, too expensive.....Grant/Mooneyes ("tulip too depth", but maybe I don't know all models.....o_O), budget ....about 100$......in used......I don't know.....I'm looking for something.....;)

  17. That steering wheel you have now is a beauty! Too bad you have to chop it up to graft the hub to a smaller, fatter rim. You should first try to machine cut the new wheel to the Fregate steering column, or have an adapter made, and save the original wheel. A steering wheel like that style is worth it's weight in gold here in the USA.

We understand what you mean by "tulip". Here we say "dish". When you lay a wheel on a table, if the outer rim is the same level as the hub, it is "flat". But if the rim is higher than the hub (can be any amount) it is "dished by X inches or XXmm".

Yes, it will break my heart to destroy my steering wheel...

About my late post (2 hours ago;)), I'm looking for adapter's.....here in France, we don't have nothing for this old car, no accessories, from now, or in the past....

But you know what?.....I discovered that early Ford used conical steering wheel....and there is a lot adapters for 32/48.....tomorow I'm gonna mesure the "taper large end" and "taper small end"......maybe it's the same that 1954 Fregate!!!!!!!!
Thanks The Shift Wizard for your explanation:)

I assume it’s Chinese, maybe there’s a French importer, or at least one somewhere+in the EU. If you can find an adapter to this style, lots of wheel choices are available.
