^^ That is some truly wild bodywork. I think it could have worked better as a shortened 2 seater roadster or something, the 4 door sedan roof looks big and bulky on even a stock bodied '59 Dodge. From the front it looks like some kind of Ghia bodied one-off, which could be neat with the right roof configuration.

Man, who would I've thought there were so many that fit this category. Really a nice, updated look for the boxy early 50's cars as the body styles thinned out in the later 50's.

 

This one was for sale at Nashville Goodguys last week. The seller said it was built in northern Missouri and put in a barn in 1970

 

That's pretty cool, what did they want for it? Looks like it was a very nicely finished car at one time. My only thought though is that sectioned Shoeboxes seem to work better with coupe roofs rather than sedans. Still a nice (almost) survivor custom though.

 

He didn't say, I didn't ask....he was gone before the day was over. Don't know if he got tired or sold it....lots of tire kickers, but looked like few buyers on Saturday. The work looked pretty good, and it seemed fairly solid. I hope it found a new home.

A little history:
Here's Gerald Cooper's shoebox when my friend Dick Robert's owned it.
Right after buying it from Larry Bogard in Ft. lauderdale, he stopped by
so I could see it. It had a white interior with a 4 spoke Crestliner steering
wheel but still needed some interior work. I think Ron Staples owned it after Dick
and redid it to black with turquoise wheels. Here's pretty recent write up.

Kiwi Jeff- Billy Belmont from Mass. sold the Jade Idol not long ago after owning it for years. I think I heard that Gene Winfield is going to re paint it for the new owner in it's original colors. Any one heard likewise?

I like this truck and have considered this treatment on mine, but 80 percent of this truck is channeled? The only thing sectioned is the hood? Asking not questioning for future reference? Johnny

Wish I still had pics my '53 Effie that I was building on '03 was sectioned and not chopped. Last I heard it got turned onto a mud truck.
