My corvair buggy. It's mostly corvair. Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, gauges, etc. it has a JC Whitney square tube frame holding it all together. Joe Poty Enterprises body. 110 with a power glide.

While they're not really HAMB friendly, I've always thought the 2nd gen Vair's have some of the best body lines ever, I love them.

One of my high school classmates in about 73 or 74 built a V8 Corvair, he put a SBC in place of the back seat, mated to an auto trans, and a very short diveline, just long enough for a couple of u-joints mated that to a 10 bolt rear. The radiator went up front, and IIRC he put a grill up front, 3" pvc tubing to carry the coolant between the engine and the radiator. Not a bad project for a high school kid.

This belonged to a friend in '73 when the pics were taken. It went from Chicago to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and then to South Carolina. I'd like to think someone took care of it and it's still alive.

  10. My guess is a 215 Buick, but with fuel injection. Maybe a later model Rover 3500/4500 since it has the fuel inj?

The stance is what caught my eye. This was mixed in with a bunch of photos of other type cars and this one jumped out at me.

The wheelbase is altered, but done so well I had to do a doubletake.

    Since Loudbang has posted a couple cool photos of drag racer Corvairs I've gotta ask;
a while back a friend sent me a B&W photo of a drag race Corvair, early body style, stretched nose, low, radiused rear fender wells and something lurking under the windshield/cowl area. It looked to be a light color. I lost it in a horrible computer crash and haven't been able to find it again. Anyone seen one like that? If you have please post it again.

I don't visit often so my apologies if posted previously.

The XP-737 Sebring Spyder roadster was built in three basic versions by GM Styling, all based on the same car, and all with a wheelbase shortened 15" from the stock 108". This is the second version, which is the first one shown to the public. It debuted at the Chicago Auto Show on February 18, 1961.

That's my old car! Now owned by Barking Frog Farm on here (hasn't been on since 2013, too busy racing I guess).

He races that down in Oregon. Google "Nader Hater". (Nader Hader?)

This needs to be posted again.
This is one of the neatest Corvairs that you will ever see.
    Jay Eitel's V 12 ' Jaguar' Corvair .
Read about his background and look at the engineering that went into this.
I have always thought it was incredible.
He has passed now but what an interesting story.

All you other Corvair owners can only dream of doing something this neat with your cars.
This one sets the bar and I can't help but wonder where it is now.

I was fortunate enough to chat with Jay at a Good Guys meet in Pleasanton, CA many years ago. A very nice gentleman that was surprised no one else had done the something similar. The car was really cool to see in person, too.
